So I decided to take the plunge and make the flight over to th eUK to be reunited with my mom and her side of the family. If you guys recall the incident 2 years ago.
I can only really go out the end of this month for the holiday but flights are over 1K to LHR.

Anyone know of good places to find cheap flights? I did Travelocity, Expedia, direct airlines, priceline, cheapoair, and AMEX platinum concierge. everything is at 1100-1600.

What gives. ANy help will be appreciated for discount flights

Try Kayak.com, they list all the fares from all the different sites.

It used to be that $500-600 was a good price for a ticket from Boston to the UK. Since you're in Cali, honestly I would think ~$800 would have been a good price, but with gas prices rising, I am not sure $1100 is that bad of a deal.

Try Kayak - you can check when the busy dates are and fly on other dates.

Don't have a lot of flying experience, however, look at multi flights and leaving from various airports.

You may be able to save several hundred dollars if you stop in a city or two before continuing on to the UK. You may also find it cheaper flying out of an airport from another city relatively close to you.

Best of luck reuniting with your mom. I hope everything goes smoothly.

Are you flying from LA? If so take a look at Aerlingus flights (direct no less) to Dublin (Ireland) and then picking up a connecting flight on Ryan Air. When are you planning to fly? I’m assuming you’re booking this flight months in advance.

Go to Travelzoo.com When my GF and I went over to Ireland for my cousin's wedding a couple of years ago we were able to get direct, roundtrip flights for a bit more than $500. Obviously with fuel cost these days that'll be hard to match but I'd think you should be able to get a decent deal somewhere.

Good luck! I remember the thread, it doesn't seem like it was two years ago.

Zoom's only got a couple planes, if he's flying out of L.A. he's screwed. Their prices out of FL are pretty good, but I heard their planes are pretty old.

Antony, after what this chap has said i thought i should point out i dont know anything about them, nor can i vouch for them in any way. I saw the advert the morning and that is the reason i pointed it out as they were saying how cheap they were.

Well you need to cover your ass these days :D Reading it now it does sound like a disclaimer when all i was really trying to point out was that ive never used them.

I am sure they said return flights from £299 though which is what got my attention.

I saw the same ad I think through the British Tourist Authority. I work with a lot of airlines in my business, I asked a customer in the business about them and he told me their planes were old and that they only had a few. Still, for the money a $600-700 flight out of Ft. Lauderdale round trip is not bad.

Antony you also need to consider taxes, I bet you get hit with another $300-400 in taxes alone on a trip to London these days.

As mentioned, $1100 might be a decent fare at this time of the season and this year in particular. Summer is high season for travel, particularly to that area; lots of tourists, etc. Also there are fewer discount seats as airlines have consolidated flights as part of their effort to be efficient given higher fuel prices.

I can get you onto a flight with Aeroflot for $293 +tax.

You might also consider signing up with the merchant marines...might take a month or two to get there, but might as well get paid for the trip.

Hey guys, thanks for your help.
    Still nothing. All over $1050.

If/when I come, I will stay for about 5 days. I would stay at my grandmas flat in London or get a hotel out here. The fam is right outside of London

Yea well I WAS going, will wait for the cost to come down a little.

Thanks for the insight on some new places for flights.

Watch out though cause this online agencies are going to shut down soon. Airlines are pulling out cause of high CPA.

What about chartered-flights? I always have friends/family flying back-&-forth from the U.S. to the U.K. via these special flights. . .
