While waiting for parts or what ever..........I am detailing the eng compt and replacing all a/c lines and fittings. easy to get to the expansion valve front and rear. This car is amazingly rust free in all the frame areas.

So a couple questions..............has anyone tried "pulling through" new a/c hoses for the rear unit. Looks like the F guys built the car around them. Actually, they go through the rocker on the pass side. But man ..............I could see a mess if they got hung up somewhere in the middle. Anyone do this?

Also in pic below is what the manual refers to as "Electro defrost valve", one each for the front and rear. Allows both units or one or the other independantly. Not sure how to or if they should be cleaned. Any experience with these? Tried to Google the part number trying "Singer".........

    Thanks !

I was going to start a separate thread with this question but my question should fit in with yours.

I think my water / condensate lines are blocked on both my front and rear A/C, especially the front. Apparently there are two drains in the front and one in the rear. Getting to the top of the rear evaporator is easy. Here are my questions:
    - Where does the rear drain discharge? Side or center of car? Near?
    - Is it possible to reach the top of the front drain lines from the foot wells on either side of the console? Any advice or picture how to reach them?
    - Where do the front lines discharge? Near?

Dave, I hope I do not hi-jack your thread and you get your answer. Touch job you are taking on. Just rerunning control bulb to the rear evaporator was a nice trick that I did last year.

From what I understand, these bodies were supplied 'whole' to the Maranello factory; afterwhich, the car was assembled. As a thought, try pulling some copper icemaker line (1/8" used for refrig.) through. It'll be stiff enough to wiggle around to get a feel w/what kind of chase you're dealing with.

    Ken,

I have my right side console side off now and the drain is very accessable. This weekend or so, I can take a pic and post it to help. I assume the other side is similar. Have not looked at the rear yet./stat control.................

Yes, I am changing t/stat control and fan switches. Also gonna do the Stabilant 22 treatment on any and all connections I can get to.

Highly recommend www.nostalgicair.com in Florida for Parker barrier hoses, expansion valves, switches etc. Excellent prices and service.

Yea, been thinking, since these cars have a frame for a back bone, the rockers may be a straight through shot with no bulkheads. One of those boroscope deals on a flex shft would be nice..................

On the drains, I am going to remove the tube and use suction from a vac on the hose nipple. Will do pics this weekend

I look forward to hear how the sucking goes! It sounds like you will be working from the top by the evaporator. Pic will be good, I hope not to have to tear too much apart to get to them.

Getting a handle on the valves and will report back with info.

Here is a pic of the passenger drain tube and other pieces of interest.

Easy to get to with seat removed, good time to vac out the intake area of the evap.

This weekend I will post pics of the new expansion valve and method of flushing I used.

Thanks for the pic of the front drain tube. Besides clogging with dust if looks like it could easily get pinched as well. I hope to get to this job in a few weeks.
