Does anybody know of a good place around london, I can get a rear brake caliper rebuilt for my GT4? It just seems to have seized up solid, its not jambed on or off, its just like it would be driving along before putting your brake on, You can spin the wheel freeley with the pads just touching the disk not to creating any friction as it should be. Strainge! I have the special tools for pushing back the pistons, SOLID! will not move, I have knocked off the adjusters and slackend off the nipple, NOTHING! The other three are worknig perfect but this has just frozen solid. She has not been out in the wet, fluid was changed last year. Any ideas you can come back with would be of great help. Many Thanks Mark...
One side rotates one way, the other side rotates the other way (anti-clockwise). When you screw the piston in. Correct me if I'm wrong, its been a while since I did this. This may be part of the problem. If you pull the boots back, you can visually inspect. Jay
Hello Mark, Have you tried QV at Ascot?I don't think that is too far away from you, especially as they are working on our age cars a lot and are always friendly and helpful whenever I ask advice. Regards,Tom
I had mine rebuilt by a Porsche specialist. 914s have the same rear calipers, they know the system. Regards Harry
There is a crowd in UK, not sure if near London though, that will do a swap out, your old ones for a set of rebuilt ones off the shelf., reanodised etc. Name escapes me at the moment, guarantee Ron or Colin in Superformance will know the name of the company.
Thank you, I will get on the case tonight when I have a little time. The swap for recon sounds good to me. Mark...
