I have a 360 coupe and have taken the car to several shops and they have tried adjusting the cable adjusting nuts and even taken off the rear grill to access the locking mechanism to make sure there was not too much slack. The inside lock mechanism looks good.

Any ideas on what else to do? It will lock into place but just the pressure of a single finger can lift it up. If I hit a bump while driving the hatch will open. I have a manual 6 spd so at least car still drives but its just annoying.

Sounds like checking both cables from the cabin and the fuel door. then loosening up the one from the cabin. Then loosening up the cable from the fuel door so slightly. Sounds like the trigger aspect of the mechanism is too tight.. that or the height isn't quite right. Take the cover off on the grill and check it out..
Disclaimer: haven't had to play with this on my car.

Replace the latch. They are really cheaply made, and the wear out.

If they have already tried adjusting both release cables then I agree its most likely the latching mechanism. They are indeed cheaply made just like the latching mechanism in the luggagge compartment that I had to replace.

I too recommend replacing the rear latching mechanism.

Sorry if I wasnt very clear.

They come as a complete unit. So yes my recommendation is to replace the entire locking mechanism.
