Need some help how to solve the below issue.

As per our phone coversation concerning your Ferrari, kindly note the following:
As per your request, we have investigated the issue of reverse light failure when putting R gear. We have noticed at first a poor harness connection. However, what we realized is that the reverse switch located under the gear selector is connected to 2 wires. The first connected to the rear lights, and the second connected to fuse box, specifically to the lights fuse. And so, I deduced that the reverse light only works with the lights switched on. Also note that the wiring of the vehicle has never been tampered with, which made me think that this is original wiring.
Now we can bypass the wire connected to the fuse box, and connect it directly to the switch, but I do not recommend this since I guess the wiring is originally done by the designers as is.
At the end, it is your decision, please advise, or if you have contacts at Ferrari, do ask them about the case.

It seems that your mechanic does not understand the wiring. Just bc the wire comes from the fuse that is labelled lighting does not mean that you need to have the lights on for the wire to have power.
Get him a copy of the wiring diagram from the owner's manual.

Or purchase access to the 308 wiring diagrams of FChatter Paul

well worth whatever price he is asking. These are an invaluable resource to solving wiring puzzles.

IF I recall correctly, the system works like this: 12V from the fusebox goes to the reverse light switch on the gearbox, then to the reverse light, then to a ground near the reverse light. Placing the car into reverse closes the switch and sends power to the reverse light.

The mechanic is correct, on the european 308 GT4s (as well as on the 206/246 and probably others) the reverse light is part of the lighting system and only works when the headlights are switched on.

But has the mechanic verified that the actual switch still works?
Is the switch making physical contact with the gear lever when placed in reverse?
Is the wiring from and to the switch transmitting (full, 12 volt) power?
Is the bulb burnt out in the light housing?
Do you have an excellent connection to ground through the light housing?
If this is a European GT4, do both lights work, or only one?
