I had no idea rear parking sensors were an option on the F430s... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Didn't you know? I have seen a F430 with it a few months ago. It was at the day of delivery, and a man and his wife came to pick it up, and they said the woman would drive it often, so I totally understanded the parking sensors. But they are ugly
They might be slightly ugly, but with the rear visibility and cost of repair (hence market value with paint work), I think they are worth it!
Actually they are VERY useful. I have them on my F430 and they do an excellent job. They might not be good looking on the car, but in real world I can't say they are ugly either.
what in the world would you backing into with a F430?? I wouldnt touch one with em, fugly I just saw my first F430 Spider yesterday!! sounded great even with ear plugs in and the radio on
I always reverse park my car back into the garage wall and the reverse sensors have always proven itself to be helpful in all my cars....even more so in the F430 especially when you do not want the beautiful looking rear valence diffusers to ground the parking curbs.
Or, for a 360, you can get a rear parking camera installed - very inconspicuous inserted near the license plate edge. Small monitor can be installed either under the stereo console or the sunvisor.
Anyone that needs parking sensors should not be allowed to drive! Volvo now has FRONT mounted sensors!! Sad sad state of drivers these days! Den.
I am still to read a more silly comment/post on this site yet. Having sensors on your car has nothing to do with how much you know your car. Because if it was the case, we would have sensors for driving too. It is for the other things you are backing your car up to. Are you expecting drivers to know the correct dimensions of all car bumpers, sidewalks, walls, concrete columns, indoor parkings, safety poles, and/or bikes in the world. Plus, with exotics like Ferrari's and Lambo's, rear visibility is very poor. Lambo's even now have a rear view camera factory option.
Isn't that what our eyes are for? Sensors for driving? What would you call radar operated cruise control? And "Lane departure warning system"s? Instead of telling people to pay attention to DRIVING the manufacturers are giving them more and more excuses to pay more attention to their cellphones than what they are actually SUPPOSED to be doing! Rear view cameras. What a joke!
When I was talking about sensors for driving, I was referring to Ferrari's and other exotics. They don't have that. Plus, have you ever drove a Murcielago for example? If you did, you would know that even your eyes can not help you park. Why? Because rear visibility is ZERO at bumper level. You really can not see out. Rear-View camera or a parking sensor for such cars are very important. Unless you are going to use these cars only on the track and never on public roads, where parking is required, you would be correct in being unconcerned.
But do you see a need for them in such silliness as Nissan Murano's and various minivans? It is getting out of control. Too many drivers who can't use a simple thing like a mirror and car makers who encourage the behaviour! Where does it end? between GPS and eectronic "nannys", drivers are getting worse, not better! I see your point and agree but in most cases this is getting rediculous!
I have rear parking sensors fitted to my F430, and find them very, very useful. It is a new 2006 option and by the time my car was delivered, Ferrari in the UK were offering both front and rear parking sensors. I have the UK codes if anyone wants them.
That is correct. On top of that, if you live in a city that built to deal with flooding, there are areas where the sidewalk curbs can be very high with the roads sloping downwards as it meets the curb. I cannot even open the passenger door if I park in front of the house instead of the garage. The curb is higher than than the bottom edge of the door as well as the rear bumper. Parking stops are also very high in this city as well - higher than the rear exhaust which can be problematic if you are backing into a parking space or even parking nose in.
I find them extreamly useful for reverse parking in the garage and reverse parking where there are parking stops.
