    I think the finish you would want on that is SEM Trim Restore paint. The silver, surprisingly, is a pretty perfect match for a silver sharpie.

    I sanded mine down about 10 years ago. I prefer the 328 look(all black and black lock) so painting was easy. While I had them off, I also removed all the pins in the lock except one. Less finicky and it's not like I need high security for a plastic cover that someone could break off with their bare hands. Took only a few hours.Unless you're leaving it in the sun a lot, flat black rattle can paint in even strokes will look just as good as 2 part paint professional job, for several decades.
