    Replacing the fuel pumps and need to remove the back shelf with straps. What is the small panel with a cover on the passenger side?It is on the flat area outside of the strap . It opens and a bolt is there. I dont have access to my WSM at the moment and want to be cautious. Does it need to come out or will it come with the shelf when that is freed?Thanks Mike

    Figured it out. Looks like a provision for a strap used with a child safety seat. It just unbolts to remove the parcel shelf.Mike

    Hi Mike,

    We changed the fuel pumps in our 612 without touching the rear shelf. We unfolded the metal steps and slide the fuel tank towards the trunk gate.

    Let us know how it goes.

    Hi Ricardo. On the 599 the pumps are accessed from inside the car and under the parcel shelf. Look to my new thread for the just finished adventure.Mike
