does anyone have any custom enclosure or place to put additional speakers in a 348 ? i just found that i have a bazooka style subwoofer inside the center console under the radio . cant believe they fitted it so well!
but when the top is off and im running down the road, its still a bit difficult to hear the full music..

darron i agree, i just replaced my speakers in the doors with kenwood 200 watt speakers and it still sounds like shi t, it seems either the sterio is not powerful enough or another set of speakers are needed.

Why? When your on the highway for 2 hours, Ferrari at 4k rpm, music for a while, sometimes you want to change the tune! IMHO of course!

actually my system sounds great, but im a bit of a a/v nut , so i want more...

my car already has a mcintosh amp in the trunk, alpine headunit ,and a cd changer built in the trunk . oh and the subwoofer in the center console, helps alot.
im going to try to build an enclosure this weekend for some two way speakers that will sit on the carpet ledge behind the seats. stay tuned

My dad's 348 came with a small speaker enclosure on the shelf behind the seats. I do not think it will give any good imaging at all. Basically a pair of speakers blating at about ear level with both channels on one side of your head will make it sound like you have a clogged left ear (for the driver). If you made a custom box and mounted the speakers directionally to reflect off the back glass and get the sound to follow the outside of the cabin, you could have a really great sounding system in a small cabin. I think I will definitely have to add the subwoofer and a couple small amps to my stock setup.

My car came with the rear speakers on the shelf in the corners. They used the same vinyl material though so it all blends in. Im with you on this one.
Ive got a Sony-MEX-1HD which has a 10gig hard drive built into the head unit (no more CD changer needed as this will store 165 hours of music)

2 amps, an ADS digital amp and a California amp for the sub

15' Kicker Solobaric (the square one) with a custom box that I built for the trunk. No cutting involved and the bass finds its way through into the car through the rubber grommet behind the glovebox. I can be doing 80 and if i turn it up, can feel the bass easily.

Boston Acuostics 5" speakers in the rear and Polk audio tweeters in the front. I left the door panel speakers the same (though they are ADS also)

Half the time I drive with no radio and just wanna listen to the motor, the other half of the time...

"Hey man, is that Freedom Rock man"
    "Yeah, man"
"Well, then turn it up man!"

took mine to a stereo expert as i had same thoughts. replace the small ferrari speakers in the doors with bigger more powerful modern units of whatever wattage you can handle, but the trick is then to have them fit a small forward facing sub woofer on the rear shelf facing forwards. im not sure whats available to the rest of the world, but here in nz they have a really smart, small subwoofer unit expressly for this type of vehicle. looks like part of the car even though its added after, and looks very smart. rounded corners, black plastic, load as hell. sound is out of this world.
