Hi all, sorry for not using the search function but thought this would be the quickest way to get the exploded view of the rear suspension.

I pulled the Bilsteins out to get repaired but am having a difficult time getting the bolt for the shock absorber in with the washers the correct way around and wondered if I have an issue with the new shock or I'm just not doing it right.

There are obviously washers at either end but there are 2 large washers with a step on the edge which indicate the washers goes a specific way and I didn't take a picture before I pulled the shocks out.

My challenge book shows an exploded view for the froont but not the rear.

    Thanks for any help

    John

I have a feeling those washers came from somewhere else. The center hole size isn’t even the same. How sure are these came off the pulled assembly?

Perhaps you can go to the Eurospares website (it has very good diagrams) and find the info you need.

PS. Sorry, just realised you got the diagram you showed from the Eurospares website. I see that it is from the "Challenge" section. I believe that this section only shows diagrams of what is different on the Challenge from the base model. Have a look at the suspension diagrams for the base 355.

Are you talking about washer #47?

If so they should be the same washer on either side. There’s nothing special about that washer. I don’t recall them having a step. I have a feeling someone put whatever washer they could find around the shop.

Looks like these washers could be part of a challenge bushing assembly, which is very different from our standard car bushings as you have a much stiffer bushing material. I haven’t seen these type of washers in our suspension.

#47 is just a standard looking washer

Hopefully, this helps you piece together what goes where.

Thanks very much guys, to say I'm confused is an understatement but I've got it all back together and all feels solid, ... I'll find out at the track :)
