My rear view mirror has started to come loose, does anyone know how it is attached, so I can remove it and then reattach it properly?

Inside rear view mirror snaps on to the base on the headliner.

Pull it carefully away from the headliner. You might want to put a driver under the edge and pry carefully.

Once you have it off, you'll notice a mounting stud,on a plate, on the headliner. It has two screws, and they can be tightened.

Also, the mirror itself has a tightening nut on the inside, you can adjust that down tight too. the mounting stud on the mirror has a slotted side, accepts a 10mm wrench+-, and then put another wrench on the nut on the inside, and tighten appropriately.

If the mirror itself is loose in the frame, it's because the rubber gasket has disintegrated. I used some rubber sheet goods and cut a new one. The frame around the glass is a press on fit, it has a couple little indentations in the side that you can slide a small screwdriver ander and then pry it off.

the mirror istelf is under a piece of glass, so be careful with both of these, along withthe lever and little spring/clip that changes the mirror from day to night.

Putting it back on the base when you are done requires a fair amount of force, don't be shy, give it a good push to get it to snap back on to the stud.

There's also alignment pins to make sure you don't put it on upside down.

Interior rear view mirrors are as scarce as hen's teeth.

Exterior are on ebay all the time.

I've only seen one interior mirror in about three years, and don't know of anyone who has one right now.

IF yours is ratty, it can be refurbished with new glass and a mirror, and some satin black paint. (Ask me how I know.) :D

Like Dave said, you can fix an existing inside rearview mirror. I found a replacement kit for the mirror at

    http://www.fiatparts.com/ - Bruce's parts bin.

It's a vitaloni mirror and vitaloni makes a mirror replacement kit.

    hope this helps.

The mirror bracket below -excuse the iph images - came with my '71 246gt E series 3.
(there was no mirror fitted into the car and this bracket was lying in a box of minor and duplicate bits in the trunk).

Would you guys comment on whether you think its Dino or other please...

I noticed that the location lugs have been removed or broken - see Dave M's images - and there doesn't seem to be any paint around the sun visor holes...?

    Thanks, Paul.
PS I haven't had a chance to re-look to see whether the 'fixing plate' is still in the box.

    Paul,
The bracket is correct for your car.
Did you find the other parts for it?
