Hi guys, I just picked up a 348. Drove it from St. Louis, Mo. to Detroit on Saturday. Back roads. That was fun. I thought it was funny that it does not have a review mirror on the windshield and no evidence of glue residue. It does have these strange rubber mounts attached above where the rearview mirror should be. Does anyone know what these things are? I suspect they maybe for a radar detector or security system. The rear view mirror attaches to the glass. I forget what those rubber things are for there was a thread on it once and when you find out what they are for you go "ohh ya" then you forget 3 months later. It was like to hold sunglasses or something. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I believe I read somewhere that the rubber "pins" are to temporarily support the shoulder belt with the mad mouse seat belts ?
Since you have no mirror it might be a good opportunity to purchase a new modern one with back up camera incorporated ?
That may have been it. Also jives with the belts being so long to reach there, which causes them to not retract well.
You having trouble backing up with your 348? I never understand the fascination with backup cameras haha
Too late for me - where do I send my man card?! :-( Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login View attachment 706826
That looks pretty clean actually. Truth be told, I would never by a new car without a rear view camera or CarPlay.
You can barely tell it's there - I actually bought it not for the reverse camera functionality but just so I can film behind me in case people get too close. It also has a tremor sensor in case someone bumps your car whilst it's parked. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You can't. Rear cameras were mandated in the US for the 2019 model year. Even with the one car I own with a backup camera, I rarely use it.
It's handy when backing up to a trailer to connect. Especially a loaned one, where the connector location isn't familiar. That said, even I don't have a trailer hitch on my 348.
