Ok, finished cleaning the motor on the testarossa. Refinished the fuel injector lines, cleaned the fuel injectors, flushed the radiator fluids (again), etc.

Started the car, which took forvever. Had to turn the motor over in short burst for a minute or two. Finally caught, ran rough for 10-15 seconds, then went smooth.

Ran it for 2-3 minutes, all seemed fine. No fuel leaks, no radiator leaks, no oil leaks (shocker!).

Gave the car a little gas, to 3000-4000 rpm for a second, and the car backfired/popped on the passenger bank. Did this 2-3 times. I shut the car down, everything looked ok. Oil pressure ok. Temp and midline, etc.

Started it again, and it started right away. Did the quick throttle blips again, and no popping on decelleration this time. Seems to run fine.

Is this normal after purging the fuel system? Is there anything I should check? I assume the popping was one of the cylinders running lean? Did it just take a while to build up fuel pressure???

Should I take the plugs out and check them? Any thoughts???

All pretty typical after replacing and/or cleaning the injectors. The air in the injector lines will self-purge, so other than checking and possibly re-setting the base mixture levels, you're done. (By unplugging the saftey switches; the blue connectors on the fuel distributors, you can semi-purge the lines, without attempting to even turn the engine over.)

    Regards,

Geesh...just corrected my typing errors... Sorry.

So, is the popping normal??? Again, seems to be gone now. Just want to make sure I don't/didn't damage anything...

I bead blasted the fuel lines. I flushed them with compressed air/carb cleaner so I don't believe any debris remained. Just want to make sure a fuel injector didn't get clogged or anything else. Shouldn't be any spark issues as none of these were removed/altered.

On the bright side, all of the oil/radiator fluid leaks on the top of the block are gone. And it only killed 1 entire summer :).
