So my good friend is rebuilding his 964 Turbo engine and was asking me if he should keep the CIS or go for EFI, and frankly im not a P-Car guy just yet and dont know much about it so I was hoping someone could make some helpful suggestions on the subject.

How much HP is he looking for and what is his budget ?

I have done numerous complete 964 turbo engines rebuilds from stock to high performance.

Personally I would stay with the stock injection as you can make a sweet 450-470 HP engine that will make you "sheet your pants" every time the boost comes on, and will be way more for the street that you can handle. See the 1992 Porsche 964 turbo I have for sale in F-Ads for a description of the engine rebuild. That was a $30K engine because we split the engine case. So, when you add up the parts, machine work and labor, that is what it costs when you pay retail price for a 30 year experienced factory trained Porsche master technician to do it right, the first and only time.

You're basically maxed out except for cam profiles and injection at this point, so basically take it higher from there with EFI requires another $10K+........and on one of these it isn't worth it IMHO.
