    Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone knows of any companies that rebuild F1 actuators? Or if anyone has any rebuild instructions? Appreciate your responses.

I don't know if anyone is really rebuilding them or if they are just repairing them. To me it is an important distinction. I believe there are 2 choices in the US and a search should turn them up.

Very good point especially when they are 20 years old.

There is a UK/Europe option now as well.
I spoke to him last week and he has a very good set-up and reasonable charges....

Incidentally he said the 360 actuator is a very strong unit and one of the better ones.

Plenty people are doing it as a standalone service. Plenty of us have been repairing these for years for clients within our workshops. It's not rocket science you just need to find someone who understands the system,
fits the correct material seals and stands by their product....

Eddie- Affirmative, I believe Juri is doing them, too. Not too unlike the hydraulic controls on a tractor for the lines and actuator.

What mystifies me with these actuator rebuilds is the reasonably high cost.
I can't help think you are looking at no more than a couple of hours work and a few seals.
Cleanliness is everything when working with hydraulics but to strip the actuator, clean it and reassemble it with new seals sounds a relatively simple operation compared to rebuilding a gearbox or even carbs.
I think the charged cost of this is linked to the replacement cost (which has actually fallen), the high set-up cost (test rig etc), warranty and low turnover of units rather than the true cost.

Name me a product or service whose price is not based on its value in the market place.

If they are so much like other hydraulic actuators, take them to a hyd service shop and see what they say. Just tell them it's off of some foreign tractor so you don't get the Ferrari tax.
