i had the engine done because both the stock headers and the QV headers burned through on the same cylinder. So decided to take the motor apart and do it right, New valves, guides etc. Found out the liners were worn thin. I love the car and have had it for 9 years. I thought of trading for a 360 but instead put the money into the 355 and will keep it. With modified brakes, suspension, and engine, the car can keep up with any 360 and look better doing it.

I have one complaint: the paint on the heads is not of the crackled finish variety. A couple of coats of red epxoy paint (the second coat being put on in the forbidden 2-4 hour window) will give that crinkled finish.

I am with you Bob. I don't think that is too much for what is essentially a new engine. I have gone back and forth with the idea of replacing the 355, and I don't think I am going to do it. When the time comes, it will get a similar treatment... if I am lucky!

I know all of you guys see enginefixr and myself cutting up on here regularly (tit pics etc).....All cutting up aside, he is a good friend and a very talented engine builder! He has built at least half a dozen engines for me in the last year or two. Every one runs fantastic....

In fact, I almost try to find an excuse to have him go through engines! The problem is I'm running out of projects and I am not successful in blowing anything up he's rebuilt!

+355 ....... the 355 with a proper fresh engine as this, is far better than a 360 IMO ............

+1 ................... as beautiful as the 355 is ...... upgrading and refreshing the 355 is my 'choice' .......... it has a revolutionary core engine that was not replaced until the F430 ........ fixed cam timing, individual throttle bodies, five valves per cylinder, 8500 RPM (8750 limited) along with the best sound a road going Ferrari ever made ......... the greatness of the 355 will be even better appreciated as time goes on ............

Wow, that blonde in the first picture looks especially amazing... tried to figure out who she was via the copyright information and got as far as 'Nikkivb' as the title of another image of her.

Is she a friend or model you know or know of?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Actually Andrew, the total price was extremely reasonable. If you do a search, many individuals have paid $30,000+ for a rebuild (using OEM parts) that does not include any ceramic coating, porting, polishing, etc. I think Gary has done an incredible job for great price.

What a project! Some serious dough too. Hmm, got me thinking of the 348 engine. Wonder how much we can mess with it on a rebuild. There doesn't look to be too much meat between the cylinders for piston enlargement esp. if you increase the thickness of the liners. Stroking, maybe, but then the rod angles might be too extreme.

Interesting thought, but honestly this is a much better upgrade for a 355 than a 348. It's a keeper, your car. :)

Here is some more eye candy for you guys. It comes from toda racing in Japan. The first pic is a f355 motor the second is a f430 motor and the last is a f355 full motor kit. I think the only on the market. It comes with a fully balanced flat-plane crank forged high compression pistons and last but not lease something some of you guys been asking for special cams and lifters. I don't know anymore than this and if you like check them out at todaracing.com, Hope you guys like because I sure do.

More info on the kit. It is a stroker kit and the compression is 12.3:1 with the total displacment at 3859cc and the price is more then a rebuild at $25,149.51 without shipping. LOL! And that is just the kit. I don't know the hp gains but It's what I've been dreaming and waiting for and some of you guys all so but at that price it mite still be a dream. LOL

It's nice that the factory wants to screw it's customers. You can get just about anything you want from the billet crank makers for 3-4k.

I heard recently that all parts for cars greater than 10 years old are given over to a company in the UK, and then there is one and only one source. An 85 amp Bosche alternator for a 328 is $2800. Crazy.

I see on there web site that the kit cost 2,355,00 yen. I have just used a money converter and i make it 2,355,000 Japanese yen = 15,572.48 British pounds sterling. So if thats correct then 15K is a bargin compared to 25k. Uk sterling of US dollar, thats still a great price.
Though i would not dream of buying such a kit without hard engine performance data. Cant see them selling any with out engine power/gain/data.

I know I have been reading your goth exhaust post on that 360 headers all this weekend trying to guess what type of HP's would be around with this kit. It just came out so we have to wait to see dyno sheets. But this kit I'm sure will make more then a 360 stradale. Which in my books is super. But I knew you guys would love this info. I have been dream of a stroker kit but to make a custom oneoff would have been to expensive. And your forgetting one thing Goth that is the full Motec Ecu to control everything.LOL It's a Must have if you go this far.
