Waiting on the car. Should arrive any day now.
You got your replica BEFORE the real thing? I waited about 2 months for the replica following the car delivery. It is indeed rather cool.
Interesting. If you take a look at the article in the most recent issue of Ferrari's magazine (I beleive it is #9, the one with the yellow cover), there is a great short article about the manufacture of the replica models. Originally they were planned as a "gift" to the purchaser to be delivered sometime before the actual car....but they got behind on production and many were received after the actual car....seems they are back up to speed now.
I'll be darned, the hood does open! Thanks! Mine sits on my desk next to a metal statue of Gort that my daughter gave me. You know ... "Gort, Klatoo, Barada, Nikto" ... from The Day the Earth Stood Still ... original one.
Ha! I opened mine when I first got it and was afraid I'd broken it! Good thing I'm kinder to the real thing.
You must be so excited! I can't imagine having to wait more, after waiting my whole life! We were lucky and took the first one off the F of Austin floor and I was happy to have it "as-is" since I was still in shock when my hubby said we could get it. NEVER thought that day would come! The only thing I would change is the wheels - and that's on my xmas list! Oh, and I did get some really nice mats from www.artexture.com
Nice! Kieth makes the best mats on the market. Can someone please post a photo of the model? I've never heard of this until now.
Here it is. Took the photo and uploaded it with my blackberry so resolution is a little poor. It's about the size of a cell phone. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My car is some where in the U.S. en-route to the dealership. In addition, The dealer told me that they have no allocation until January 2011 now and some dude at the dealership wanted to buy my car off me. I told him no way.
Curious? Did you order it with standard wheels? Mine has the standard ones, but I wonder if I had chosen Stars, would my model have that? The chassis number is on the underside of the wooden platform.
I wanted the standard wheels. My preference. Apparently, the model is an exact replica of your order down to the wheels. Curious though, I don't see the parking sensors on the model.
Here's mine, Mike, just for you, in TDF blue! That's about half a toothpick holding open the hood. And normal-size Scotch tape behind it for sizing. The detail is pretty amazing! I'd never noticed the Cavallino in the headrest before I took the pic. I'll try to remember to bring it to the next event. Although I have never remembered even my nametag, yet! No, they are not on there. And, yes, mine has the aluminum brake calipers, while yours has yellow. And those seats are exactly like mine. Center console too. Super cool! Just realized the side mirrors adjust! Not sure that they're supposed to, though, and don't want to break them! I wish the roof opened...
T$$ty bingo, really, Mike? Thought you were above such nonsense. It's still an old boy's club in here, isn't it?
lol.. It's the name of a rock band. The lead singer and guitarist is Dahr Jamail, son of the famous Joe Jamail. Lot's of Jamail money around UT. Heck, a statue of Joe is even at the stadium and the field is actually called Joe Jamail Field. Dahr and Titty Bingo record all of their songs at my friend Willie's studio. Willie plays in the band when he feels like it. Dahr has a reputation for driving the sh$t out of his Ferraris. Totaled several... He was the first person to total an Enzo. Completely burnt to the ground but Ferrari hooked him up. lol He plasters Titty Bingo bumper stickers all over his Ferraris. It's quite funny. He also has a thing for blue Ferraris. Several of his Ferraris are blue. I see his Ferraris at Willie's studio pretty often. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Jamail http://tittybingo.com/ I also like the reaction I get when people see the bumper sticker on my car.
Ok, I hear ya. Had lots of American cheese as a kid at the meat counter at Jamail's in Houston. So much so, that I can't eat it now! Showing my age now, I bet! Wonder how long that store's been shut?
And I really want to put stickers on my F car, but hubby won't allow it! 'Course mine are more along the line of "My other car is a Hybrid" and "The Hypoallergenic Horse"
Nooo, please don't! Actually, do whatever, it's your car And PS. My buddy sent you a email back.
Was wondering if the model was just for the US market - haven't heard anything about it from the dealer here - they seem to give away mugs and T-shirts and that's about it? David
Jennifer, I ordered the upgraded 20" wheels but the model they sent had the standard wheels. My dealer said they don't make the models exactly as you ordered, but close.
