No real data other then I have been watching the market closely for the last year. I haven't noticed a difference in Spiders vs Coupes, there are more Spiders then Coupes for sale though so based on classic supply and demand the Coupes could get away with asking more. If they get more or not though that is a different thing.
https://bringatrailer.com/ferrari/360/ You will have to weed thru some wheels and accessories and check for stick vs F1, but you should be able to glean some delta between the Spider and the Modena.
See there, all those years of carefully looking after it only made you a few thousand dollars more than if you just drove it like a normal car
I've been a 911 owner for decades. The same thing seems to have happened in that market. Coupes and Cabs are about the same price when comparing "apples to apples". IMO, I'm guessing the dyed in the wool sports car folks are more attracted to the coupes.
For me I tend to think in almost all instances the roof line of a coupe model (most any car) is what gives the car a bit more unified character of design. Just my .02
I very happily paid 90K for a nice 2004 F1 360 Modena. Sold my 2022 992 gt3 Porsche. I think the 360 Modena is one of the most beautiful Ferraris and is such a wonderful car to drive. They are bargains imo
^^^^ This, absolutely I agree, these 360's are undervalued. I used to say the same about the 911s-- not anymore. As a side note... interestingly, a friend of mine has a GT3. He asked to meet so he could have a ride in my 360 as he was considering one. He's still keeping his GT3, but he is now upped his game to perhaps a 458. And to add, FWIW, he has no interest in a spider. After almost 5 years, I still love looking at and driving my 360... as intended by Enzo
Sure, just not as fun to drive I have one of each (non-Ferrari) and the question of the day always comes down to do I want to have a fun drive or terrorize the general public….LOL
I am still on the fence about the Spider vs Coupe since like you I have another brand Spider, well its my Wife's actually but it is a lot of fun, a Mini Coper 3 Pedal Convertible. So the 3 pedal thing is not as important to me on the Ferrari and neither is the Spider. But I must say most of my Ferrari's have either been GTS or Spiders with only a few Coupes in there. Sadly I don't take my Cars to the Track anymore so the Spider would probably be the better choice... Its always nice to hear other peoples perspective on this so thanks for sharing.
True... but I live in Florida. Not many days that are dry enough (rains a lot sometimes with little warning) or cool enough. Parked in traffic or at a long red light, you simply cook in a convertible.
For us GT3 fans, the one the original the one that everything that comes after it tries to imitate, is the 996GT3. The water cooled version of the Carrera RS. The 997/991/992 are all faster with more technology but they are not better. Sort of like saying the latest M3 is better than the original E30 M3. Faster, yes. Better, No. Certainly not as special.
OK just my 2 cents ... I too have put my track days behind me. I have an F1 360 and I love it. I actually drove a 3 pedal 360 and after driving a slew of 911s, I was not warming up to the gated shifter. From a maintenance standpoint the Spider will need more attention as when the top mechanisms get older they sometimes have problems from what I have read here on the forum from owners of Spiders-- and they bemoan the costs to correct them. Not that these issues are particular to Ferrari Spiders, all convertibles have their issues over time. I just love the sweeping roof of a Modena. But I am part designer, so aesthetics are important to my eye. In the end you drive and enjoy what you like. And with that said, of course, both the Spider and Modena run out the same and produce the same amount of smiles. Enjoy the hunt, and I'm sure whatever your decision, you will be thrilled with the 360.
I can tell you it is a 997. Series 1 or series 2 -- don't know. He has modified it nicely and it sounded wonderful when he pulled away from our get together! He bought it new and spec'ed it well. He claims he will never sell it.
@kc If you noticed the wheels, the 997.1 has 5 wheel lugs like the Ferrari, the 997.2 has Center Lock Wheels. But many people did convert their Center Lock wheels to 5 Wheel Lugs, especially those that Tracked the cars. I also had a 996 GT3 and did try and buy it back a few years ago, it is that special
