He doesn't know I'm posting this; I have a brilliant and hard working friend who's looking for a job. He'll graduate from Purdue this May with a 4.0 (up till now) in BS Aviation Technology (aviation maintenance). Has intern'd with GE Aviation. Is a pilot himself and passionate about aviation. Despite many possible career paths is very much a hands on guy, and would like to pursue working on planes or engines working as a mechanic or hands-on technical guy for a maintenance company, airline/freight, plane or engine manufacturer. Has a background in nondestructive testing and has Airframe and Powerplant license.

If anyone can point me in the direction of helpful contacts, I'd be grateful. Thanks in advance.

Where is he going to live after school? I work at Emteq and also used to be at Zodiac Aerospace. Both have several locations in N.A.

He might look at civil service working at one of the depots where engines are overhualed. The two Air Logistic Centers are Ogden ALC, Utah, near Salt Lake City, and Warner-Robbins ALC, GA near Macon.

Gulfstream is hiring. Have him look on their website for service center jobs in their job posting section.

There are an assortment of paths for him to look at.

Airlines are always one. Pick wisely as they have had a lot of turmoil as the weak ones go away.

Airline MRO. The 3rd party operations that do the work for the airlines. An assortment of places around the country. Some of the big ones are Timco in North Carolina, ST Aerospace in San Antonio, the ex-Goodrich in Everett, WA; big one in Phoenix.

Corporate aircraft. Gulfstream is in Savannah, Beech in Wichita, Cessna in Wichita, Lear in Wichita, Piper in Vero Beach, Bombardier in Montreal. Then there are the company facilities around the US that each owns which additionally included Falcon Jet.

Independent corporate MRO. These are all of the place. Some are huge while others are not. Some are primarily maintenance while others do interior outfitting, interior refurbishment, exterior paint, etc. These places are also going to work on more than one manufacturer of aircraft.

Your friend probably needs to think of what he wants to do as his career path in 5 or 10 years.

If the person wants to stay in the hands on side versus moving through the management ranks then get an IA and then ultimately become a DAR. A special little word that is mandated to exist by the FAA with nice remuneration. Can be in house or independent.
