I am, admittedly, a fanatic when it comes to detailing. I've searched far and wide in the Austin area since I moved here and, while I've met a few guys who are above-average, I haven't found anyone yet who meets my ridiculously high standards. I've resorted to flying out someone from CT to take care of my cars when I need world-class service. It may seem extreme but this person is widely recognized on the east coast as one of the very top guys anywhere and he has worked on just about every kind of exotic you can imagine.

I just had him out here a couple of months ago but will most likely fly him out again before summer (if he can fit it in his schedule). If you're interested, I'll be happy to ask him if he can fit in another car. Just shoot me a PM.

Here's a few samples of some of the work he has done on my cars:

That said, if anyone knows someone truly great in Austin, I'd appreciate an introduction.

Let me know if you find anyone good. I'd love to find someone I can use for ongoing maintenance details and only fly my guy down here maybe once a year or so for big stuff like serious paint correction and chip repair. FYI... I'm toying with the idea of opening a serious, high-end detail shop locally. The one and only complaint I have about Austin is the lack of services for serious car guys.

Jimpo, I'm one of the featured detailers in that article, thanks for the kind words.

As far as Austin, I do make regular trips to Houston and OK City as I have a quite a few clients spread around.

I would love to add Austin to the list if I had enough cars to justify the trip for a couple days. I'd think there's some good high end detailers that could maintain it more regularly as I could do the 6-12 month overhauls.

Just let me know if you're ever interested, my schedule is very busy right now so I need about a months notice.

    Thanks,
    Josh

Can someone direct me to a good detailer here in Houston who could come to my house and detail my 4Runner? Yes sorry no Fcar but I love my 4Runner and I have a HUGE FIRST DATE the 27th of next month. I would like them to come to my house and look at my dirty ranch truck and see what they can do for me.

    Much thanks in advance,
    tex

I find things like this a little on the funny side when I read them. I can explain....

This person contacted me prior to ever moving to Austin, and the ONLY service we ever performed for him, were $50 clean ups a few times, NEVER gave us the opportunity to do a True Detail on his Vehicle(s).......don't understand how he can say that he has not found anyone, you actually have to let someone do more than a wash on your car in order to see what they can do for you!!!!!

I bent over backwards for this guy multiple times, with nothing to gain from him, and all I got in return was DISRESPECT!!

Nice way to make friends and customers. I consider JP a friend and I don't see how he's being disrespectful. He didn't give you a negative review.

    TexasMike,

At one point I considered JP a Friend as well, we have a few things in common, Seattle, WA and we're both Seahawks Fans. He is a smart guy, but he could have handled things a bit differently. You and I wouldn't be having this conversation if he had just contacted me and said SOMETHING, instead of ignoring me!

What I did not go into details and blast all over the forum was the facts, and maybe thats where I screwed up.........so here it is

I was offering to be a friend in addition to assisting him with his vehicles when need be, he has/had an assistant that didn't know her way around at all, here in Austin.

Here is an example of me trying to extend a hand, with expecting nothing in return but a thank you!

JP's assistant took his truck in to have some work completed on the suspension and such. While in the parking lot for the day, the Truck gained a large dent with missing paint, keep in mind, the truck had approximately 1500 miles on it, so it was VERY new. JP was pissed, this assistant didn't know her way around Austin at all.

I offered to assist him with finding a shop that would do what he wanted with costing an arm and a leg, or without having to replace the door.

After several days of running around, and finding the shop that could do 100%, cost of gas of both vehicles, cost of repairs, I asked for $5.00 for my time!

I offered numerous times to assist him with getting to know Austin a little better and such.......why, because I'm a nice person and I thought we were becoming friends.

This is not why I'm angry or whatever, I guess you could call it more irritation than anything...here's the reason....

He suggested one day that we discuss the possibility of opening a Shop together, keep in mind, I'm a workaholic, I'm dedicated to what I do, so putting 40 hours a week in, well, I haven't worked less than 70 hours a week in years!

I don't care if I had to put 20 hours a day in to make this happen....I would have done it!

He had me put a plan together, do a crap load of research, check into cost of materials, etc...etc.

I spent hours/days of my time, for what?

For this person that i thought was cool? for this person I had respect for? And what did I get in return.

NOTHING....he has ignored emails, phone calls, text messages, etc.........it's been 7 to 8 months and nothing!

So, I'm in the wrong for feeling how I do?

As I have stated before, I'm not here to strum up business......I'm here to socialize and chat with other people about cars and events. If I meet cool people along the way, and they want to know a little more about what I do, so be it........

    Well, well, well.

I leave for a few days and people start trouble, huh?

Justin, your posts are not even close to the truth in regard to many of the facts. Yes, we did discuss opening a high-end detail shop and auto spa and you did send me a roughly 3-page word document with some basic numbers. I never received anything else. In the end was nowhere near the kind of research you promised or that I would expect from someone with whom I would want to work on a project like this.

Yes, you did some light work on a couple of my cars and I paid you well. I also tipped you at least $50 each time you did a light cleanup on my cars (do you always get $50 tips on $100 jobs?).

And yes, you helped my assistant find a shop to repair the door ding on my truck. And, again, I paid you for your services and time.

I've discussed Justin's work via PM with at least one other member here. But I'll state publicly here what I said privately. Justin's work is fine. If you need a basic detail, I would have no reservation using him. I did not have him work on my Ferrari and I would not. I'm sorry Justin, I think you're a decent local detailer but you are not up to doing serious work on exotics and I would not personally use you for that kind of work nor would I recommend you.

I apologize if I have not responded to a previous message from you. The email address you have is one that I rarely check and I'm a very busy person. But, quite frankly, I paid you well for the services you provided and I don't really think that I owe you more than that. I did not intend any disrespect and I don't think anyone on these boards who has met me would expect that from me.

    I wish you luck.
