Recently I've been looking at Trek FX hybrid bikes (particularly the FX7.5). Can anyone recommend them or other hybrids? I have a road bike and am tired of the hunched over riding position. A mountain bike is too heavy, bulky and I do most of my riding on pavement.

hybrid is definitely the way to go for your situation. nice riding position, more comfort, but less rolling resistance and noise than you would get from a mountain bike. i am not familiar with the model you are asking about...are there online reviews? i would suggest that you go to a dealer and try on a few models to see how they fit you and then go online and check the reviews to see if there is anything that you should be concerned about.

i have a dahon matrix folding bike that's a hybrid. i got started riding with that bike, and it's been great. it folded up to fit in my car without me having to deal with bike racks, etc. i put some nice clip-in pedals on it once i got better and i added the usual bike accessories for street riding, lights, bell, under-seat bag, etc. i still have it but i don't ride it much anymore, maybe twice a year--i stick to riding race bikes on closed trails or mountain bikes. i don't want to deal with cars, actually, i don't want to put my life in the hands of the distracted people driving them!
