Hi all, I am starting my next project on my 1987 328. Part of which involves updating the thermostat housing hoses. What would be a good recommendation for a thermostat with gaskets for my 328? Part numbers would be cool too. Regards
I went stock on mine. Pricey but probably worth it. The others you have to fiddle with a little. Some need a hole drilled in them. It isn't something you have to by often, so it isn't very expensive over the long run, I guess.
Hey thanks guys, I didn't know that, about modifying one, I thought that might be a drop in one that just works I think that I might just purchase a factory original, since it is something that gets rarely changed.
The Birdman articles about thermostats are definitely worth reading. I posted this last year in my maintenance thread - click the symbol after the "GordonC" below to see the actual post with the pictures. I tried 2 or 3 thermostats, am now happy with the Behr Made in Italy 87C unit sold by Superformance:
Hi Gordon Thanks for that review, I think that I will do this instead. Regards I just realized that your talking about your 308QV, From I can see and read, I have to run the hotter German Behr for my 328. So I actually don't have a choice. Can someone run a 308QV thermostat in a 328?
Sorry, I hadn't realized that the 328 thermostat was different than the QV. Here's a thread about the 328 thermostats, includes part numbers: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/402519-328-thermostat.html
Hey Thanks for that link, Gordon, it does confirm that the 3.2 does have a different thermostat BTW, when are you going to be up here in Edmonton with your ride?
