Can anyone recommend a local tire shop that will mount tires on my stock 355 rims. I'm in Rockland County. Bergen Tire in Mahwah didn't want to risk damage.

I don't know of anyone in that area but wouldn't Tire Rack have a recommendation for a top line shop?

Probably yes, but not guaranteed. Tire Rack (Don't get me wrong - I like them a lot and always buy my tires from them) had a shop in their database that was complete disaster. I'll spare you the story, but after my experience, I called Tire Rack and recommended that they drop the vendor.

Also, I have used Performance Tire and Wheel, 500 Route 17 South, Ridgewood, NJ - 201-652-2300 / Scott Crispano
They changed my run flats on my 96 Collector's Vette and did a good job. They did mention that they had worked on Ferraris before, etc. Call em up and feel it out. Good luck.

I can't speak highly enought about Euro Tire in Fairfield NJ right on route 46. I have been using them for 20 years....VERY careful, they have all sorts of cars I've seen done over the years from standard BMW sedans to vintage Lotus/MG/Alfas to new Ferraris to vintage Ferraris/Porsche. The upstairs waiting room has a glass wall so you can watch them work on your car, or go next door to the diner. Bill Bloomfield is the owner...tell him Andrew with the red 360 sent you- I was just there for 4 new tires 2 weeks ago!

Andrew - I always see that shop, but from Rte 46 it looked a bit like a wholesale tire vendor - cool - thanks for the heads up - great to know - its like 15 mins from where I live.

I take everything there- my dad's lexus, my bmw...2 years ago I even had them put new Empi rims and vintage style Vredsteen tires on our VW bug which are cool...a lot of the guys with 60's MGs, Alfas etc get them as they are modern yet have the tread and sidewall look of a 1960's tire!

Bill is the man when it comes to tires...there is usually a vintage racer in there getting track tires too- the day I went for my tires on the 360 there was a MINT Lotus something or other on a trailer- bright red with roll bar and set up for the track- the car looked like it weighed about 1,600 pounds and I'm sure it flew on the track!

I went to Eurotire just before winter to get my tires balanced due to a slight shimmy at certain speeds.

The shimmy is still there AND i threw a couple of their weights within 2 days.
The alignment they did seemed to be fine.
I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and will mention next visit about the shimmy & weights. We'll see.

They really do know their stuff. Take it back and work on the provblem. I've had them shave tires to get them round again and eliminate noise as well. Ask Chris about all that stuff. Chris is THE alignment guy there but he also is off at race events working for Pirelli at times. That's when their newer guy does the alignments. I've only had Chris do my alignments but I think he's spent a lot of time training this guy too. I'd be really surprised if they can't figure it out.

BTW, you guys still using snorkles in Wayne?
