You now have something in common with my kids. Tiger has instructed them both in private lessons! He actually gave the first private lesson to my oldest about 5 years ago.

We leave for Copper tomorrow morning, I can't wait. After 24 years living in Colorado, I miss the mountains.

That's funny, Tiger seems like he's well known. EVERYONE knew his name and he knew everyone, especially the cute ones. :) A great guy and fun. I asked him what he does besides instructing and he said "child porn". I think Tiger might be the only guy in the world that could pull that response off to be funny and not scary.

Should be perfect for you, Denver spring breaks aren't for another week I don't think and some fresh snow starting tonight. It was getting a little icy for us in spots turning to slush later. We had no complaints, but some of the locals were.

Jim, as an experienced skier, what runs do you like to do? Challenge yourself with the Yellows and Blues or just take it easy on the long Green runs? A little of all?

The best meal we had there was at Double Diamond, a very nice large Prime Rib and Lobster Tail. We wanted to try Alexander's, but they had a private party Sunday. In Denver we had the best and most unique meal ever at the Tuscany located in the Loews Hotel. Very original combinations, but perfect results. Had a duck & apple crepe appetizer and I had dried fruit in a Elk tenderloin. Jennie had some type of seafood dish with beets.

Yellows? Isn't that out of bounds? ;)

At Copper I like to ski in the back bowls or over on the East side. My problem is, my kids tend to be on the West side of the mountain so I spend more time over there than I'd like. Union Bowl gets a lot of my attention because I can leave the kids on Rendezvous lift and still ski some interesting terrain. Otherwise, when I ski with the kids I do a LOT of long, cruising blue runs.

Wow, so you are doing the expert black diamond stuff up top. The steepness of even the yellows (East side) seems like it would wear you out pretty quick. I guess much of that is technique to stay relaxed. I guess you can compare it to swimming technique… you can expend twice the effort and be twice as slow all resulting in getting tired and sore quickly without much gained. :)

Ok, I just got back from Copper. Now I see what you mean by "Yellow". All the "green" runs are shaded and grouped together on the trail map, as are all the "blue". For the "blacks" they're shaded in yellow. I guess if you shade black on black, you can't see anything.

It snowed the entire time I was there. The coldest ski trip in my 38 years of skiing. Sadly, the accumulations were pretty thin. The back bowls were icy, but Union was awesome.

No snow for us and it was 35-45 degrees most of the day. I think that hurt the snow conditions for us. Think we'll try it again next year. Fun trip.

You guys should know the best skiing in Colorado is in March! (Usually) Jan and Feb can be really cold. Rob got lucky. Glad to hear you had good trips and nobody got hurt. Now that you're experts, try Telluride sometime! or Ajax! ;)
