Hi all, I am in the market for a GPS receiver that can be used for car navigation and since I am hoping to try out geocaching later this year I was hoping to get a single unit that can be used for hiking/geocaching as well. Do they exist? Or are the handheld hiking/geocaching units not usable for car navigation and vice versa? I am hoping to keep it in the ~$300 range (maybe a bit more if the recommended unit is really worth the added $$$). Things I would like to see are: Runs on AA or AAA batteries; support for NiMH rechargeables (i.e. the battery meter can be configured to accurately report the amount of battery power remaining for either primary or rechargeable batteries) would be even nicer. Expandable memory using an SD / MicroSD / another commonly available card format USB connector for easy uploads/updates of map data Does a unit that does all this exist? Or is this all just wishful thinking?
Get the Wayz app for your phone. More than GPS, it’ll update to live-time road closures and traffic jams and — most importantly— police traps. And it’s free. Matt
This! Or ask Siri. All the GPS units I’ve looked at require paying for updates. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
