Need to find a decent PBX system for home use. 5 lines, at least 12 extensions, predominantly cordless.

Nothing fancy, I don't want any silly features or gimmicks. I looked into it 3-4 years ago and couldn't find a system that worked well for lots of cordless use.

Any recommendations on individual systems, brands, pricing guidelines, etc. are much appreciated. I do not want some OTT office system.

    Thanks!

With a need for 5 lines and 12 extensions, you probably won't have time for any karting :)

    five lines is the killer.

panasonic makes a system designed for homes, but damn if i can remember the model information. no clue if it supports five lines.

why not set up an asterisk server? source 5 DIDs and route them in the server to w/l VoIP phones? http://www.voipsuppy.com/

Dude-man: i know most systems say hey, 4 lines is the tops. I suppose I could get away with 4 as one is a dedicated fax, but it'd be nice to route everything through the PBX.

    Sure thing.

Panasonic KX-TAW848 for the KSU. Will handle your needs without issue. Max 8 lines and 28 wireless multi-cell phones.

KX-TVA50 or 200 for Voice mail. These are *much* nicer than the earlier TVS series which have now been discontinued for the most part.

KX-TD7690 or 7680 for the wireless phones. Not cheap but extremely rugged.

KX-T0141 cell stations. Up to 4 can be set up to minimize / eliminate the chance of drop out.

One wired unit for system programming. KX-T7736. The majority of your programming will be done from a PC but you'll need at least one wired unit any way you go.

There's a lot more to this but the end result will be a solid system that you can depend on day in / day out. Easy to maintain without the need for outside consulting, etc.

PM me if you want more info. I can direct you to worthy vendors and can probably make your decision making process a bit easier... :)

Nortel makes a great system, we use it all the time down here for our jobsite trailers.
