In everyone's personal opinion, what tracks, locations, do you recommend trying out in the Northwest? I haven't been for awhile, so I don't know, but did they finally re-pave Pacific Raceways/SIR in Kent? If so, I'd really like to try it out. Besides there, what are some other spots that are great?

Pacific Raceways is a work in progress. The road course has not been resurfaced at this time because it will be reconfigured in the future. It's still a fun track.

Portland International Raceways is a nice track and in better shape currently.

    Both have schools as well.

The end of the straight going into 1 still has a slight bump, you gotta either stay in the gas completely, or be off it. You can't let off during the bump. It's gotten a whole lot better though since after the resurface.

oh no... they are ruining the fast left hand sweeper?

SIR is a great little known track... so sad its being changed to slow it down

The sweeper (Big Indy) was changed too make room for the new drag strip run-off/staging area. Once the new drag strip is built they can make a new dedicated front straight for the road course without the current dog-leg half way down. This will also allow them to reconfigure turn 9 into a faster corner.

Oregon Raceway Park (http://www.oregonraceway.com/) recently opened and I've heard good things. Love that a new track has opened in the NW (even if it is a bit of a haul)

Oregon Raceway Park is a good choice. I haven't driven it yet but it looks challenging based on the in-car video I've watched, and there are some nice elevation changes. It is a drive from the I-5 corridor, but I'm sure it's worth it.

PIR's racing surface was freshly reconstructed (and mildly reconfigured through turns 6/7/8) in the offseason before the 2008 racing season. The facility is reasonably well maintained given the circumstances (City of Portland Parks Department oversees the track), and is more than good enough for club/track/school days. Most of the professional racing there (CART/Champ Car/ ALMS) has gone away for now, but the amateur racing (Historic Races/Rose Cup, etc) and the car club activity is as strong as usual.

Many opportunities abound, to get out there and run your car whether a road car or track beast.

awesome, thanks for all the input! I just may make that trip out to Oregon.

I've been to SIR a few times (couple summers ago) before it was, from what I hear, re-surfaced. Definitely a nice track for not being tooo far away. My neighbor goes to Laguna Seca every year.... I could only imagine.
