Hello my fellow 3x8 friends... I have a question, has anyone had their original steering wheel restored to new again? I'm looking for a company who can redo them to factory spec for a reasonable price (yeah right l0l...)
Any feedback you can provide is MUCH appreciated

I've heard Dallas Custom Steering Wheel does great work. No experience personally but they have done some Momo Prototipos that I've seen.

I actually have used Dallas Custon Wheel (on a 1994 TransAm) and was very pleased with the work.

Anodizing is very hard to find now even in a large town like mine.
I might renew the leather and let the faded coating be "patina".....

I freshen my engine louvers with a light wipe of oil, almost anything from WD40 to Garage Door Roller Lube

The spokes are TIG welded to the steel rim and you would have to take THAT apart to refinish center, IIRC

Not in my car, not required so far.
But it’s great. My father used it for his antique gun collection, including the blueing stuff and it’s great products.

    not cheap

@BLACK HORSE I had my Boxer's rear black aluminum grate (between the taillights) refinished years ago, it had faded from the exhaust heat and sun. Turned out beautiful and looked decent for ~20 years. Unless there's been significant regulatory changes, you should be able to find a place locally. You could ask your wheel restorer remove the old upholstery, ship to you or the anodizer, then back to them for final installation of the new grip material.

Does anyone knows what the original color of the stitches on the original QV steering wheel?
Not sure if it’s white or black.

Mine ended up being white after a fair amount of cleaning.

Leatherique is great stuff. I've heard of people applying it and then leaving it in an 80 degree room for weeks to bring the leather back and it works.

I do my interior when the car is hot and then close it up for a few hours before taking it off.
