Several months ago I posted about the possibility of needing use of a recording studio so our son can record himself for an international music competition. Someone responded that they had a friend who has a professional studio that might be available. I cannot find that old thread so consequently I lost contact for the studio.

J.J. is entering the Falcone Tuba/Euphonium competition and must submit a high quality audition of himself. His professor at TCU thinks he has a very good chance of winning but knows he needs a good recording. His professor has already had one of his students win this competition so I think he knows what he is talking about. It would be very good on his resume if he could win this thing.

If you are the one who offered assistance, will you please recontact me? It is getting closer to the time the tape must be submitted.

I wasn't the one that contacted you, but i do have contacts with studios here. I do A/V and Lighting Production at AAC and a few other places around Dallas. What is your timeframe? If you don't hear from the original poster, let me know and I will see if I can help.

Need a few hours in late March. We have to work on a short budget so we really need to limit the time. Just needs to record two pieces. He was told could use the Pepsico Recital Hall at TCU but his professor thinks being in a professional studio with all the mixing available it will give him a better position. I appreciate the help. I will let you know what happens.......

No problem for a fellow enthusiast. There is a great studio in Pantego/Dalworthington Gardens called DWG. I don't know what your "short budget" requires, but this studio recorded all of the albums for the most selling metal band in music history, who I am aquaintances with. I have a few others in the Dallas area, one in Denton, and possibly one in Fort Worth.

Sold "Dime Bag" his old Caddy convertible with the steer longhorns on the nose. Remember that car? He picked it up wearing cutoff blue jean shorts and old western boots. I seem to remember a good sized tattoo on his right calf. I remember the house that sits up on the hill east off of Collins in North Arlington............If I remember right the pool was tiled to look like a Chivas Regal bottle.......

That would be a Crown Royal bottle. When the Stars won the Cup, it was dropped on the edge of that pool, resulting in an emergency trip to a silversmith. I miss him terribly. I bet we can get something going at the studio since you have history with Dime...

Yep, Crown Royal. He would not drink Chivas unless he had already had a lot to drink, which was often........;>) I was given a pass card to the club they co-owned over in Dallas. I never went there but considered it several times. A guy I worked with at Moritz BMW was married to the Sony District record exec.. Got to meet quite a few recording "stars" through them. I am not really friends with any of them but did have contact with them and seemed to get along with them pretty well.

J.J. says that he thinks he could use some time during spring break week after next. He is trying to determine when his professor is available to assist. His professor has had a CD or two of his own.

I appreciate the offer. I will follow up with you.........

James, I was that original guy who offered. How soon? PM me a few dates/times that he will be available and also your son's contact information, and I'll have them give him a call to work out the details.

Great people on this forum. I continue to be stunned by the networking and generosity of its members. It's well worth the membership fee, that's for sure.

    Cheers~

There you go. If things don't pan out, just look up Chasin Jason Studios in Pantego/DWG. Give your boy my regards with his music!

Thanks a lot guys. We are looking into one studio at this time. If it does not pan out we will get back on here a check out another one. I really appreciate your help on this. If he does well it will advance his career tremendously. If he does not win it, well the competition he is going against is tremendous and it should really help mature him.

I will let you know what happens. Whenever he finishes recording we may post it here so you can be a judge also.......

James, I suspect you will have some great news within 48 hours. You have a PM. :)

Take a look at the link I sent you. Do you think that qualifies as a quality studio? Don't worry, I suspect it will be within your budget.

    Farmer Dave,

I PM'ed you twice. Clear out some memory space. I cannot get through to you..........

Looks like we lost our window. Accompanist was set for Thursday but have not been able to talk to anyone at the studio. I tried to contact them but have not had any response from them on any of the numbers or our email address. He has reserved the Pepsico recital hall at TCU for three hours Friday but may not be able now to arrange an accompanist, which is required. His opportunity to enter the competition this year may not work out.

    thanks for your help........
