2018 488 GTB, purchased about 2 months ago from a main dealer. (first time owner here 2 years dealers warranty)

Was delivered on a flat battery which caused a load of issues, and then got stop/start failure and engine control system failure. Turned out to be a coilpack had gone. Was told this was all likely from the battery issues at the start and if not coilpacks sometimes do just go, like a lightbulb.

Got it back and it drove perfectly for a month (once a week minimum no battery tender as no power available). Yesterday I get the same thing again, and I can feel it misfiring in idle and running rough just like last time.

Is this normal? People tell me "what did you expect from a car like that, theyre all trouble", but I suspect thats the greeneye talking. If it is another coilpack, do I need to be pushing for them to do a full inspection for something else causing this issue, or does it really just happen like that with these cars?

You need to determine what codes it’s throwing….dealer should know. No it’s not normal; the dealer should be able to resolve those issues.

It was in with them last month with the same error message, they fixed it then (coilpack) and its behaving the same again now. But surely another coil pack wouldnt go within 200miles unless there was a wider problem? I have it booked in, but i just dont want to get fobbed off only to end up back in again a month later. I have been lucky in that the error has come up close to home both times, next time it might not.

If they only replaced one or two bad coil packs there are still several more. I still wouldn’t expect coil packs to go on a 5 year old car unless it got built with a bad batch

Are there any problems that consistantly cause coilpacks/spark plugs to go? What im worried about is inheriting an expensive problem once the warranty runs out 18 months from now.
