Some people say I'm thrifty but I'd say I'm a cheap New Englander. I'm wondering if anyone has the stencil & paint they used once to refinish their 328 / 308 air box? Any other things that were using in cleaning up the look of your car that you have no need for any longer? Just completed refinishing my coolant expansion tank & air plenum while fixing a coolant leak & alternator.

Send me an email......when I'm done with them I can mail them back or I'll post them so some one else can love them....Thanks!

I used mine and had reasonable success from it.

I endend up having to do the stencil a few times before it looked good.
Hardest part is getting the stencil to lay perfectly against the air box- any gap leaves a feathered edge.

I found that high temp black outdoor grill paint does a good job of matching the look of the origional finish. Do not sand on the box or you'll loose the factory "pebble" finish.

Ended up trimming the stencil to be much smaller and using heavy items to weigh it down wherever possible.

Once done a bit of touch up cleans up some of the small details.

For the $20 in stencil & the $10 in paint and masking tape it gives decent result. Not sure how many more uses you can get out of the stencil since the layers of paint close up the small print.

You might want to keep it where you keep other esoteric tools that apply to only one or two cars/guns/clocks/cameras etc. I've had 18 month to two year old paint start to flake off certain engine bay surfaces and trim on my 308. The paint was applied by supposed professionals in the LA area at a cost of around $90.00 per hour.

Next time im doing it myself :(
