My f12 is red 10. How long have most of you waited from that point to delivery. I am figuring end of July? Any ideas? Thanks
Mine was on being dipped mid march, in paint early april and signed off 28 april with delivery in uk end of next week.
In the usa it takes a little longer then UK for many reasons.. First information received at the dealerships could be slightly delayed .. but I will give my experience it takes about 28 days to build the 12 cylinder cars so Red 10 does not exactly indicate it is being built yet but close to it. So with that then testing and shipping are the two variables Now the shipping variable can be reduced by about 5 weeks by doing air shipping I added that to mine it cost about 13K now that means it is hipped by air upon completion and goes to New York They then have it shipped directly to the dealer bvia Horseless carrier or other .. I think for you it would save quite a while.. so maybe July if it by air maybe earlier .... let us know when you get it. Also I was told by my dealer the cars arrive a little cleaner and with less problems by Air.... I would do it again.. Best of luck and it is NOWAY meant to exact as it is not a very predictable event..
larryh - thanks...it was supposed to be a march build, but got held up by the triple layer paint line being dedicated to 458 Speciales and Apertas. I know Horseless Carriages generally takes about 10 days to get to my dealer from NJ and about 3/4 weeks on the water. do you know if they air ship to the West Coast or everything has to go through NJ? If I could pick up 5 weeks I could see the car early July?
For me, that period was just short of 3 months (red 10 to delivery). F12, New York metro area. This included a few extra days for protective film application.
sounds like end of July. worse case they ship by the end of july before they shut down and it shows up six weeks later?
I think they only air ship to New york but the air ship cars do not have to go to FNA so maybe they will ship it to west coast.. they seem to expedite the cars that are being air shipped ..
if you air freight, the car ships directly to the closest major airport that can process it (eg. in Southern California, it would be LAX). Would clear customs there, then trucked to dealer. Cars shipped via boat land at Newark and are processed at FAPS (not FNA). I don't know if cars that fly into EWR are taken (literally) across I-95 to FAPS. (FAPS is a huge facility that essentially handles the unload, import, process and onward shipping for just about every imported make that comes through Newark). Cars sent air freight have some additional work done prior to shipping and at the dealer (sort of an extended PDI) in lieu of the usual FAPS importation work. Going by air, you save the sea transit time, avoid "traffic jams" at ports (outbound, in-transit and in-bound), and airport customs tends to move quickly - and then the car is already closer to your dealer. Time savings varies but it's probably 3-6 weeks, depending on ship schedules and where in the country you are. With air, it's a matter of finding positive space on a flight; in most cases the car changes planes at least once.
Ok, 3 months or so to completion. So, how long did it take to get your first picture after going red 10? Still haven't seen any pictures
1 month til you get to see your car in white primer. Painted shell should follow four or so days after that.
I'm not sure if it makes a difference if you are ordering a V8 or V12, but I ordered my 458 in January, went red 10 late February I got my first photos middle of April, and the 3rd photo on April 23, and I was status 70 last week. So I ordered in January, April build and June delivery. My dealer told my last week when I was status 70 it would 6-8 weeks until delivery and my dealer is FoD. Congrats on the F12.
Just got word that because of all the customization, in spite of being red 10,production is unknown. Sounds like it will be a '16 and I probably don't see it until September/October, which will be almost a year from the beginning of the process. That is in spite of originally having a Msrch production slot. Not happy, but that's the way it is
The wait stinks. Our Speciale had a handful of extracampionario items and we were told by the Atelier they would add 3-4 weeks to the production time. Then again, the variability of production sequencing and shipping is weeks by itself. Red 10 simply means order is accepted - not that production has actually started. Status 20 means at least some metal is being bent in your favor - and status codes are notoriously slow to be updated. Our F12 went from Status 70 (test driving) to Status 93 (delivered) in about 4 days. Typically, a "standard" V12 moves faster than a "standard V8" - partially due to lower volumes, partially due to the V12 line being stable (i.e. no new models), whereas V8 has had to ramp for Cali T and now for 488. V12 line is also less automated. Also, if you picked a triple-layer paint, the capacity (that's done outside normal production) is limited. If there is a backlog of special paint programs (eg. LaFerraris, Apertas) then I could imagine you're stuck in traffic. Similar if you are having something special done that requires more supplier lead time (eg. colored CF). Am sure this doesn't help your frustration, but you must have spec'd a hell of a car.
You are right on the money....triple layer bianco italia, colored cf, and a few other items. They told me that getting the speciales and apertas out is taking precedence. My 458 spider with 3x paint added about a month, but this is longer. The 3x paint line is overworked because of the 458 run off. Unfortunately, it doesn't make me feel any better!
