OK, I've always thought that the little red B pillar looked out of place. What do you guys think of blacking it out? I've never seen one done, but it seems like an obvious idea, no? I don't have a Red 328, but I wonder why you guys who do don't consider this.

Here's some before and after pictures. Comments?

I just noticed that the other day. On some cars 308s/328s, they are painted red and on some others (like mine) they are painted black. Anyone have an idea which is correct?

Depends on the year of the 308. 84 and 85 QVs have the color of the car painted there where as pre-84 cars are painted black like yours. Both are correct.

The World's Best Car Manufacturer & Automotive Design House came up with the 328, And if Ferrari & Pininfarina designed the 328 with a body coloured 'B' pillar then that's how it should be, IMO they got it perfectly right !

Hoffmeister, nice car! That's what I'm talking about.

Letsjet, going for that "Testmule" look in #2, eh? Nice.

So I've learned two things here:

1-In one breath everyone says they like the GTB lines best, in the next breath they don't want their GTS to look that way.

2-What I am suggesting was actually Ferrari's first choice in the matter, evidenced by the fact the earlier GTS's had it my way.

So here's a real sh-disturber for an idea, why not paint the lowers red too?

Balance. I dont like the way it looks on the front spoiler/valance or rear valence. I like how it looks under the doors.

No, don't think so. Still like the original color scheme best.

There's been some debate lately about the A and B pillar colors here as well. Mine are body colored (78 308 GTS) but I've seen identical years with black. Kind of like my "boxer trim", was it original?? Who knows and really who cares unless you plan on seriously entering a concours event. I say as long as you like it and it looks good then good for you!

I like the original scheme because I am used to it.

Just like the wheels...initially I prefer the non-ABS (concave), but having looked at many and now own an '89 328, I am now used to the "'ugly;)" convex
    one and prefer it.

I like the red B-pillar and black lower valences on my 328GTS, but I am considering eventually painting the roof in body color. I've seen several other GTS's done that way and I think they look much better.

I just find the idea interesting because when you look at the side view of a red 328 the nose is pointing upwards, that doesn't look very aggressive to me. What I like about the black one I have is how the lowers are body color and it brings the nose down nicely. The pic below doesn't show it that clearly, but it's all I got.

I think it would be very interesting to see on a red one. Red 348's have the lowers painted on some and not on others, and I think 328's could work that way too. But hey, it's your car.

I've always felt that 308s & 328s look more aggressive and exotic in black, and it has the advantage of making the GTSs look more like GTBs.

But in the hot southern climate black cars are just too hot. I know one black GTS owner here who has the luxury of being able to park his car indoors while he's at work, plus he has a tan interior which also helps. But if you don't have that luxury, black cars are best left for more moderate climates.
