Red Bull doesn't exactly strike me as a Woke company given they stand by Helmut Marko.

Word now is Horner offered 650k pounds Sterling to settle with this girl. Apparently that wasn't near her demand which is why she made it public. Gag orders, pay off in exchange for non-disclosures are so common arent they

Ok here's the hilarious part. The attorney/guy who interviewed and grilled Horner for 8 hours has disappeared on vacation for a while, refused to submit the findings until he gets back. This investigator was hired by the Thai portion of Red Bull.

There is always a possible power struggle at the top in a big corporation.
In the last year, and before Dieter Mateschitz passing, Horner's stock inside the organisation increased and he obtained the funding to start Red Bull Powertrains. That may have put the noses of some executives at Red Bull GMBH out of joint. Now that Mateschitz is gone, Horner has lost his protection, and I don't trust Marko who may align with the Austian hierarchy.

    The translation is not great.

    https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/709131520/teambaas-christian-horner-van-red-bull-racing-beticht-van-seksueel-grensoverschrijdend-gedrag 1

“The riot within Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing around the independent investigation of team boss Christian Horner turns out to be one of great proportions. The female employee who reported to the headquarters of the billion-dollar group in Austria in December 2023 accuses Horner of sexually transgressive behavior.

The employee has ceded app traffic, which would show this, to the external lawyer investigating the Horner case. De Telegraaf faced this app traffic. Horner has so far denied all allegations.

De Telegraaf’s publication on February 5 about the investigation instituted by the Red Bull summit by an external, specialist lawyer already hit like a bomb in the Formula 1 world. Since then, there has been plenty of speculation about the exact allegations of the employee in question, whose name is known to this editor.

    Explosive material

It now appears that the woman’s explosive material goes far beyond ‘just’ some voice elevation of the powerful team boss and his management style, as was claimed here and there.

Stories about this have been circulating within the Formula 1 world for months, also in 2023, and were already known behind the scenes at the time of the meeting with all team bosses in London, on the same February 5.

    App traffic

To be confirmed by multiple sources in Milton Keynes, England, those sounds around the big presentation of the racing team on Thursday.

The app traffic between the female employee of Red Bull and Horner, seen by De Telegraaf, shows the image that Horner (50) has arranged and sent sexually-toned messages to the employee over a significant period of time.

    To cover the case

All messages have been saved and sent through the employee’s lawyer to the engaged, external lawyer. He sat around the table with Horner for hours last Friday. Previously, the reporter had been heard for a long time.

It is also clear that Horner did everything he could to cover up the case. In the weekend before the first publication in De Telegraaf – after he was confronted with the investigation into cross-border behavior on Friday evening, February 2 and was asked for a response – his lawyers sent a letter to the lawyer who asssist the reporter within 24 hours. In it, the Horner camp offers a settlement for an amount of no less than 650,000 pounds, converted to more than 760,000 euros.

Allegations known at Red Bull summit

Horner is not only a well-known figure in England because of his position as team boss of Red Bull Racing in the Formula 1 world (since 2005) and the fact that he is in charge of more than 1500 employees. He is also in a relationship with former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and is therefore extra in the spotlight.

The allegations, the app- traffic and the tone of the apps are known at the Red Bull- summit in Austria, with Mark Mateschitz and sports boss Oliver Mintzlaff, among others.

    Support from Yoovidhya

Yet Horner has not yet been put on non-active, pending the investigation, and he has not decided to (temporarily) take a step back himself. That has everything to do with the fact that the Briton still has the support of the Thai Chalerm Yoovidhya. He owns Red Bull for 51 percent and therefore owns a majority. The remaining shares, 49 percent, are owned by Mark Mateschitz, the son of Dietrich Mateschitz, who died in 2022.

Horner was just at work for the past period and also present at the Red Bull plant in Milton Keynes on Thursday at the presentation of the new car of world champions Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez for the upcoming Formula 1 season. Next week, the test days in Bahrain are scheduled, the place where the first race of the season will also be held a week later (Saturday 2 March).

    Rather lost than rich

The Briton again denied all allegations to him on Thursday after the team presentation, stated that he will just be in Bahrain next week, did not think about getting off and also said he felt a lot of support within the team and from the Red Bull summit.

However, it is clear that many insiders, and probably also Horner himself, realize that within that Red Bull- top - so not from the racing team but from the headquarters in Austria - many would rather lose him than be rich.

Known to other protagonists in F1

It is not for nothing that headquarters, after questions from De Telegraaf about accusations against Horner, quickly confirmed that an investigation is indeed underway and the case is being taken ‘extremely seriously’. Horner had no knowledge of the statement at the time.

Horner’s allegations of sexually transgressive behavior are now also known to several, other protagonists in the Formula 1 world.

    Eyes focused on Liberty Media

In addition, the eyes of the American sports owners of Liberty Media – owner of the Formula 1 for four billion euros since 2016 – are also focused on the issue and its handling, as are Red Bulls major, American sponsors Oracle and Ford.

It is precisely in the United States that these kinds of things around multinationals and world-famous sports brands are extra sensitive.

Horner did not want to respond to questions about app traffic.”

Assuming the allegations are true, and if his actions were bad enough to warrant a 650,000 pound pay off, then you would think he should not only be fired from Red Bull, but he should be kicked out of F1. If Mazepin's get the boot for being Russian, then surely Liberty Media doesn't want to be in business with one of the most well known team bosses with one of the biggest voices in F1 if he is a sexual predator.

Just want to say, I've no idea what was being said and done and to what extent.

What I find strange about the situation is that if it was proper sexual harrassment with proper evidence, surely they'd have booted him off for the time being until it was sorted.

It's implied that it's gone on for several months. What I hate about the current media is that everyone is crying about there being a victim...Lets be honest here, if it's gone on for several months, surely that means the woman must've have played along with it in order for him to continue to keep it going for the time that it did. I can't really imagine him sending dick pic after dick pic with zero reciprocation from her.

And there lies my point...if it's done like the above, the worst that Horner is guilty of his cheating on his wife.

Ford are now said to be monitoring the situation, a company with strong family values does not want this publicity a spokesman said. So theres photos and text messages going back to December, evidence of Horners lawyers offering to pay £650,000 for it to go away. Yeah a great day for F1 as new season approaching! So she didn’t reciprocate. Is she required to. No one knows what she sent back in response - maybe STOP and he didn’t!

Ford motorsport boss Mark Rushbrook has said the US automotive giant expects “very high standards of behaviour and integrity” amid the ongoing investigation in Red Bull team principal Christian Horner.

you're misreading entirely what I said.

Apparently it went on for months. If that's the case, I presume Horner is at least intelligent enough that after no reply, she's not interested. So if she was flirting back...she's not entirely innocent, is she?

She refused the 650K payoff and to take it further to take him/RB to the cleaners.

If it was all wanted and Horner was coming from one side only continuously, that's a different story.

I’m sure we don’t know even the tiniest portion of the scumbaggery and harassment that takes place on the grid and in any other sport or business for multi millionaire and billionaires. Why? Because the hush payoff money to make the harassed person go away was the right number.

I’m sure a great number of millionaires are watching this full well knowing the situation and laughing at Horner for not paying whatever she was asking for, because that’s what this is. A deal gone bad for not paying her demanded sum

Her admitting it went on for months clearly indicates her motives was to extort him to begin with. If she had any class it would have been reported immediately on day 1.

This is why it looks like a plot where the "offended" female could have been a willing participant.
Maybe it went on (and was maybe encouraged) to gather enough evidence.
If we go along these lines, the woman reported Horner and was told to bring proofs perhaps.
It's all supposition on my part, but could be a good script for a scandal scenario; Lol

Maybe some top executives at Red Bull GmbH , the drink company, are not as enchanted about F1 as the late Dieter Mateschitz was. He was a real motorsport enthusiast.
Sponsoring is viewed by most businessmen as part of a publicity campaign, not a permanent occupation.
We don't know exactly how the RB management now thinks; they could even dream of selling the lot and made a fast buck out of it. Dethroning Horner could be part of that scheme. Who knows ?

I wouldn't be shocked about a Me Too movement going through Formula 1 since this 650,000 pound rumor got out.

I can't even imagine how much disgusting filth goes on within Formula 1's dark curtains. You would have to be naive to think it is any different than Hollywood or any other ungodly wealthy business.

I hope that the bean counters on the energy drink side don't try to burn down their motorsports side. Red Bull is by far the biggest single company for motorsports and extreme sports. The money they have invested into those programs have helped out so many and provided tremendous entertainment to fans. Would be a shame if they pulled back. Given how much capital they have invested, I highly doubt that will happen any time soon.

Well, you may have noticed that big business don't stay in F1 for ever.
It's answerable to investors which often prefer dividends than spending outside company core business.
Red Bull has become another household name like Coca-Cola, Pepsi or McDonalds, they can now live off their fame for a long time.
Think how much for Red Bull could sell its 2 teams !!!

Red Bull GmbH is a privately owned company - (Mark Mateschitz who has a 49% and Thai billionaire Chalerm Yoovidhya who with 51% with majority control.) there isn't the scope for the same kind of pressure that exists in public companies to deliver short term dividends. Also Chalerm Yoovidhya is apparently a Horner loyalist. Media reports have claimed that

"Since Mateschitz's death aged 79, Red Bull has been less obviously ruled by an overarching figurehead - with key figures jostling for position. One of those is Oliver Mintzlaff, the managing director and former boss of RB Leipzig. Referring to the German, a Red Bull observer said: 'Mintzlaff wants Horner to depart, not least because he has become too senior and too expensive for their liking. But the Thais on the main board aren't so sure.'
    and
"Another significant figure is Dr Helmut Marko, Red Bull's 80-year-old motorsport adviser — an Austrian believed to be more in line with Mintzlaff's outlook than Horner's.
'Marko was given a contract renewal last year, but he saw his money halved,' said a well-placed F1 figure yesterday. There is the notion that he wants his revenge on Horner, and wants him out.'

The word sexual is key point here. What is the definition here?

Wasn't it an affair? Sending lewd texts and pictures? Or was it something along the lines of 'F off' ? This could be it since it's considered 'controlling' .

I just find it so weird from controlling to sexual. Something is majorly amiss here.

The only weakness of this Red Bull team is some messages sent to a female employee by the team leader ?
    No physical harassment ?

    There you have it !
Horner had the backing of Mateschitz to go ahead and start RBPT. Now Mintzlaff finds it's going too far.
Horner is a racing guy, the rest of the hierarchy at RB GmbH isn't, by the look of things.
All this is trouble for the team.

Oh c'mon Bas; Horn(y)er has backing from the Thai's. And that family has history of covering up crimes; didn't the son of the owner drive over and kill a police officer with a Ferrari. Then they just silenced everyone and acted nothing happened. The Red Bull company is not exactly high on morales...
