I just looked up the Dino featured in the Hemmings Sport & Exotics article on the Dino Register under the name of the owner listed in the article, D. Lee Miller, and it came up as serial number 08232. The Dino Register also lists the same serial numbered Dino for sale in February 2004 at Peter Markowski's RPM in Vergennes, VT. All of the details appear to match up (GTS, Campagnolo wheels, Daytona seats) except the color is listed as DARK BLUE. I assume that listing is incorrect. Has anyone here seen this Dino? Does anyone here know Mr. Miller?

Anyway, I bought the Hemmings magazine just about a month ago, and found that there were a number of things that they got wrong. For example, the comment that "Everything you touch is leather or wood." (Which, admittedly, is true for this Dino as it has a non-original wood steering wheel with a Cavallino Rampante emblem).

Hemmings picked the 914-6 as the logically better car (I wouldn't mind having a nice 914-6 sitting in my garage with my GTS), but Hemmings continued that they'd rather have the Dino.

Logically better??? Didn't know cars could think -- logically or ill :)

Anyone who would rather own a 914 than a Dino is a very sad person indeed, and I am not acquainted with the logic that would lead to that conclusion. Hey, using that logic, a Karmann-Ghia is a better car than either, and has the same mongrel roots (and nicer lines) than the 914. Lining up for a swap, anyone??

As I recall, the 914 was something of a rust bucket, too.
