After a recent short drive I received a Slow Down LIght with an intermittent brief CEL..

I drove home slowly and let the engine cool down..After about an hour I check the cats and manifold temp..left side both very cool....Right side still burning hot for the cat and the manifold is also hot..

can this be a bad cat or is it more likely an engine or ignition problem? Engine seems to run well..

    Any info deeply appriciated..

Any maintenance work was done to the car recently? Any code(s) that you could read from the car?

When the exhaust overheats, it will do that. Happened to me once when it was 100+ outside and then it was fine after cooling down. Goes into "limp" mode which makes it hard to get home!

I had the local f-car dealer check it and they said that was what it was (after looking at the codes) and not to worry.

Now, why your event happened after a short drive in (I'm assuming) fair weather? No idea...it was freakin' hot when I had this happen (but mine was also after a very short drive that day). So...I think it could be something else...time for a check up.

Or maybe not as the two new threads suggest you do not accept the first reply to your original thread ?

I had two different cats that caused blockage.

No power, exhaust was red hot (literately).

Yep, i could be a bad cat
