    Sorry about the model confusion; it's a 1998 550 (I had a 308 when I set up my log-in).
    I know the light is related to the alarm system; my confusion is that it just came on after about an hour into my ride and nothing was open/ajar but the windows.
    So my questions(s) are; why did this happen and how do I reset it so the light goes out?

    Most likely is that your alarm siren battery has died. search "siren", lots of info there
