Does this seem right to you guys in a 98 355? light does not go out. just read that it might be a problem with the alarm system? is that true? Or is this the norm? If not, how can it be fixed?

new battery( been in for a while)
all keys and key fobs as well
    ????

    Thanks

Most likely your alarm siren has given up. The siren has a rechargeable battery that seems to fail after a certain period of time that varies according to where you live. Long time in the desert, short time where humidity is high.

The latest version of the Ferrari siren lasts a bit longer, but still costs $300 plus. There is a GM replacement for the Corvette that works and is less than $100. Search the 360 forum for alarm siren GM for the part number and comments.

My 355 light stays on after I push the fob botton and stops blinking.

I can see it in the parts catalog and it is located up front, but do not know the exact location. Hopefully another F355 owner can tell you where it is located. It may show in your alarm manual that came with the car. The OM and WSM are notably unhelpful.

    180996 SIREN : Ricambi America

That is atrociously expensive. Not sure if the later model like fitted to my 575M will fit or not. You might ask Daniel at Ricambi.

    177148 SIREN : Ricambi America

Folks have also replaced the rechargeable batteries, but failure rate is high and the circuit boards are often trashed by leaking batteries.

Just changed mine last year. If your battery is pooched the alarm will not chirp when arming or disarming. The light will stay on after the car is started. these are the two most common signs that the inner alarm battery is not working.

The alarm on my 1999 is in behind the drivers wheel towards the front of the car. You need to take the wheel off and all the inner fender stuff. It is right In front of the inner wheel and behind the headlight chamber fender at the front. You cannot get to it by removing stuff inside the bonnet. Look on ricambi s website and you will see what it looks like. I kept the old one to change the battery . It plugs in and I could not plug it in while mounted so I had to remove the mount plug it in and then remount.

It does chirp when I arm and disarm and the alarm does work, so I have no idea what the deal is.

That part is no longer up for sale anymore. Any other place? Is the write up on the 360 the same system in the 355? Would like to buy the part and take it to the dealership so i have paperwork and records for me and maybe the next owner. Thanks

Tony- Doubt the dealership will install a non-Ferrari part.

Maybe mine was different failure I thought those were the only two cases. I would still bet the internal battery is the problem. On thing about buying original is I'm sure ricambi would take it back if it was not the problem.
