Mukilteo residents will be the first in the state to vote on red-light cameras.

A Snohomish County Superior Court judge ruled Friday that voters can have their say in November on an initiative that requires the city to get voter approval any time it wants to install a traffic-enforcement camera.

Anti-tax activist Tim Eyman, who gathered signatures for the initiative in Mukilteo, his hometown, applauded the judge’s ruling. He predicted that Mukilteo residents would reject the controversial cameras.

“We’re thrilled that the judge won’t stop voters from voting,” Eyman said.

 

If they vote it down, it'll just end up with some judge and they'll
simply overturn the vote. Happens all the time.

 

Where’s all the negativity coming from?? Snap out of it, you shouldn’t roll over and let big brother stomp all over you with their Chinese boots or RLC's. You should be happy the flat $35 tab fee passed in 1999 is still in effect, and wasn’t “overturned by some judge”, otherwise you would be paying $500 + per year for your 87 328. Oh yea, I know, they added a bunch of other fees, but a buck something is way better than what it was!!!!!

No sh#t. I was paying $2k in additional "monorail tax" on my car tabs for a couple years...until the Seattle voters came to their senses and cancelled the whole thing. What the hell did I get for my $4k? Nothing! It paid for the salaries of a bunch of schmucks that were administering that project that went nowhere...

Now I pay for a Sound Transit that no one rides....what is it? For every $1 a rider pays, the tax payers subsidize it to the tune of $3? What a joke.

 

At least it offers up the people a voice and possibility. It makes them look good, even if they do end up taking it away.

After our first year at our new home out in the "sticks", I was sure tickled when it was time for tabs. No emissions required and the RTA tax gets kicked back to me at the end of the year. We'll see how long that lasts but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

 

Governments are unavoidably parasitical in nature, how many parasites do we wish to support, which are beneficial to us and which are not. RLC certainly don’t enhance our general well being, although, they are sold to us on that premise.

ATS is especially anxious to keep the measure off the ballot because no photo enforcement program has ever survived a public vote

 

This country is great, voters wield so much more power here. In UK (and other European countries) they get RLCs and speed cameras shoved down their throats and there is nothing voters can do about it.

 

Same here, when a person owns a bunch of modified cars it's nice to not have to worry about testing.

No sewer
No storm runoff fees
I can drag my guns out for target practice in the back yard, legally.
No Red Light Cameras

The sheeple have spoken, look at our Goverment, who wield much more power then "We The People" SAD states of affairs since we have lost our voice in this country

 

It's time for term limits, real ones, and limiting campaing spending to what the candidate will make as salary for one year of being in office.

Pretty simple but would put a lot of people out or "work".

 

Maybe 6 month probation periods, if your not working out you are out of here!!!

The ballet was a vote whether to allow a 2/3 majority of the city council to pass the red light legislation. We didn’t get to vote directly on the RL initiative.
