Just changed batteries on all 3 remotes for my 360. the red remote does not lock or unlock car like the other 2 black remotes do. (i have never used the red remote before) is the remote stuffed or does it need some programing.
Mags- Pinch the contacts together, install a new battery and then spin the battery to make sure any light corrosion is ground off. Does the LED illuminate when you press the button? Taz Terry Phillips
Hi Taz, I will try that. the light does illuminate. these electrical gremlins in the ferraris drive you up the wall
I need to try this as well. My remotes are quirky if I stop using one for a while the button will still light up so I know there's juice, but it won't register to unlock the car.
Mine did that.. I'd press the button and the light would flash but sporadic unlock/lock. Replaced the battery and it's fine. I suspect these remotes tend to wear down faster than the newer fobs.. e.g. the fob on my Boxster..
This may be a dumb question, but are you using the remotes the same distance from the car? Most (if not all) 360's, you have to be practically at the car pointing the thing in the driver's window (maybe passenger window area from the other side of the car)- the range is quite weak. If you randomly tried one of your remotes from too far away and it's still lighting the red light, the remote may be fine. There is a post in f-chat describing where you can remove the rear interior panel and simply move the wire antenna which greatly increases the remote's range- you can do it yourself and for no cost (a rarity in a ferrari-ha!) but I haven't bothered to do it as I'm just used to getting close to the car before unlocking...
They use rolling codes, so with non-use, they can get out of sync. Same thing could happen to a garage door opener using similar technology. If you repeatedly press the button, I would think it should eventually re-sync unless there is something else wrong.
N4S- The rolling codes only get out of synch on cloned fobs. For original fobs, there is a rolling code associated with each fob ID, so they cannot get out of synch. One owner reports if you press the fob three times within 10 seconds, it will cure the out of synch problem on cloned fobs, but I have not tried it myself. Taz Terry Phillips
Yep I tried it right up near the ignition. I was in a hurry last time I drove the car so I just grabbed the other remote. Normally I have found that if you push it a lot eventually it will work.
