Okay 355 fans, help me out please.

I need an offer price (i.e. do not exceed $X) for a Rosso Corsa/Tan 355 GTS 6SPD. It's a 1997 one owner car with 8,000 miles, new tires Florida car.

Sounds pretty good huh? Well, here is the bad news.

    1. Never had a 15K or 30K service. I realize the mileage doesn't dictate having one done, but at this point the 30K needs doing yes?

    2. Typical bubbling/spidering on the C-Pillars.

    3. Typical bubbling on the center console

Sounds like a good car other than the 3 items listed above. Will have it PPI'd of course. Asking price is $82.5K but the seller will take $79,950 which I still think is a bit high without the major being done.

    Any assistance is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Nick

IMHO 70K is tops for that car. Good luck

Why do you think that Peter? I know of several fresh 30K 95 355Bs on the market for 75k. The GTS is much more rare, no?

That 30K service could run you $10K real quick, a water pump here, a washer there...boom. you are into that car for close to $90K then you are done.

    70 because no service :(

Find a car with the service done.

Yes, fresh 30k '95 GTB prolly can go for 75k if low mileage. a GTS might command a little more. but if not serviced, u knock 8k off, so there puts u at 70k or low 70's tops.

I have a great comparable sale. I, two months ago, sold my 1996 355 spider red/tan in perfect condition except it needed a 30K service. It had 23,000 miles and no issues. It took one month to sell and sales price was 73K and I think that was a fair price.

Agreed. Make him an offer, leave your number, and walk away....he will likely come around when he gets no better offers. Or, someone with "gotta have it now" syndrome walks in and pays him $80k....stupid stuff happens...

The guy's probably hoping a sucker comes along and doesn't really question the need for a major. I think it's better to find one that's got it done. That way you know what you're dealing with.

Sure did Nick. Thanks for asking.

    (I do miss her, though). - ;)

A serviced car with the specs you are noting would have gone around $80K, so knock off the cost for the service and you're in the $73K - $75K band.

Work them down. Then again, this is a Florida car, and all sorts of crazy stuff happens in that state - :D

As you may know, the 97's could still have the infamous valve guide issue. So, definitely get a compression test done. In my opinion, there are the good sellers who make sure a 30K is done within a year (or sooner) of selling and there are those who try to get away without it. They folks in the latter category seem to think that they can sell the car in the same price range as those in the former category. The car would easily be worth $80K if the major had been done. So, I'd say to the seller - I'll give you $80K but *you* pay for the major before selling it. They will probably try to find another buyer. For point of reference, the dealer in Orange County was selling a '97 GTS with major and 9K miles for $82K about 3 months ago.

If I might ask, how much do the 15k and 30k services on a F355 cost? Are these the only major services needed or is it every 15k miles?

Good for you Ghost. I knew that wouldn't last long.

Your Times Square pic still retains the dubious honor of being my favorite Ferrari picture of all time (barring any shots of Christy Brinkley in the red 308 in National Lampoons Vacation of course...)

Are you still gunning for a G-Car?

    Best,

    Nick
