Not at all Keith…one of the primary enjoyments of wine (and cars IMO) is experimenting and sharing with others. Tastes are very personal, altered by what is consumed before/during and often changes over time. I appreciate the reco greatly.
And of course I couldnt resist adding a few more wines today…decidedly not Tuesday wines. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Image Unavailable, Please Login TT My weekly submission of Tuesday wine. This retails for about $ 25 here. Very pleasant and tannins, fruit in balance. Good everyday bottle. Cheers!
Image Unavailable, Please Login Loved this…so smooth and drinkable with a 15 min decant. Reminds me of Clos Faubard.
Everyday the news remind us how the human beings are able of the worst... fortunately (not that this is always a good enough relief) there are a few signs that they are also able to craft amazing things: Image Unavailable, Please Login
My 99 year old dad passed, and cleaning out his office I came across the dinner he organized to feature the Vietti wines from Italy. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

I opened this one last night, and thought it was developing nicely. 2010 Cos D’Estournel. My favorite vintage so far has been 2005, but these are coming along nicely. JK Image Unavailable, Please Login
2003 is definitely better than 2011 - not sure whether it's just because it's older, or it's a really better year... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Both VERY good. The Pontet-Canet was truly spectacular after a 60 min decant. The Hardi was immensely drinkable upon opening and would be an excellent Thursday wine.
Last night was the annual Bordeaux tasting with Hart Davis Hart in Chicago. This year was a 20-vintage vertical of Chateau Pichon Lalande Comtesse. An excellent example vent as always, and there were some real standouts: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login JK
The 1982 was really great. Nice integration of tannin and fruit. Long finish and aromas of smoke and flint. The funny thing about aging these things is that it was out-gunned by the 1970. The 1970 was from magnums, but still I was shocked. Nobody would ever mention 1970 in the breath as 1982, yet it was big, deep, and full of graphite and wood. Cigar box or pencil to the extreme. I think the nose would stay in the glass after it was washed. Certainly not as nuanced, but right up my alley. 2009, 1996, and 1990 rounded out my top five. JK
Hey Keith, It was certainly great. There were so many great vintages it was a little bit of splitting hairs. I think in the end, the 2000 was just a bit behind some of the others. I love these tastings so much because it’s the only time I’ll ever get to experience these wines in this sort of context. I’m not affiliated with HDH beyond being a customer, but their annual tastings are fabulous. JK
