We introduced a wine connoisseur from France to some "budget" red wines here in South Africa. He was quite impressed what you can get for €10-15 per bottle. For example Meerlust Rubicon or Morgenster. Cost aside (one person's €30 is another person's €10) he was most impressed by the "volume" of the reds. (For me a typical Bordeaux tastes diluted) The 21Club wine list from 2018 shows only 2 SA wines, which is quite sad. Perhaps 5 years later, now, they have 3?
Here’s a wonderful little surprise. Must have purchased as it was used in a restaurant in Europe for a red wine reduction, and upon drinking today quite good, esp for $8.00. Not a typo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Indeed….was a bit over the top. Started with magnum of Phelps Insignia, then into two bottles of the Caymus 40th…and i digress
I took one of my Neighbor Next Door 2019 cabs to a friend's house in PA for dinner. Was quite good and had several more years of improvement ahead of it I think. I have a couple more somewhere

Have a Caymus question. Do they now make a Caymus California Cab? And if so is it estate juice or sourced fruit. Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
How was the '95 LB ? I had it maybe half a dozen years ago and it was still drinking quite well...just a hint of brown on the edge as I recall.
Merry Christmas All! Curious to see everyone's Christmas Day meal wine choices! I'm going all Italian, not sure what yet. Thinking a fun Vintage flight of 1 Brunello Producer OR doing one vintage from multiple producers
Just went to a Caymus wine dinner. IIRC it is from multiple sourced vineyards. Not much available so I bought a few.
At the other end of the Harlan spectrum, I opened this one on Saturday night. I think it offers good value for what it is, even though it’s hard for me to use the v word for a $150 bottle of wine: Image Unavailable, Please Login JK
Christmas Eve pick, always love the stuff KB puts out and this one was no different after a little air. Delicious stuff! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Keith: The 1995 Lynch Bages was still in its prime…no sign of being over-the-hill. The cork itself crumbled like a cookie but that didn’t affect the wine at all. I must say that I got almost as much enjoyment from the 2010 Lagrange, a lesser known (and relatively inexpensive) label that is often overlooked. I’ll always choose it if it’s on a restaurant’s wine list. Merry Christmas! Alan N.J.
