Saturday night at Atelier Crenn. The DRC was a lot lighter and more floral than I anticipated. The somm had it decanter for about 1-1 1/2 hour before serving so I didn't get any of the alcohol with the first sniff just the floral notes. This is the first time I've had this DRC so was completely foreign to me. It did not disappoint and we did have some great bottles the whole evening :)

Pol J. Some lovely bottles there. Comte LaFond has a terrific portfolio...their Sancerre is one of our favorites. In Euro, you find it in the old style bottles and I have had ten year old vintages that were fresh and lively.

We receive these as a gift from our Bellagio host during our stays. A full throated Napa Cab. Could benefit from a few years in the cave. Opened this one with s Image Unavailable, Please Login teak a poivre tonight to see how it was coming along. Very nice wine. Cheers

Thanks for posting Jon. I've had many vintages of Cos and it's a funny wine. Usually very earthy and powerful in its early years (depending on vintage of course) and sometimes with the older bottles the fruit just can't outlive the tannin. I just checked my inventory and somewhere I have a 2016 and I'm guessing that will need at least five more years. Cheers

I have a few 2016’s as well. I think Cos needs a long time but it benefits from a 5+hour decant. Amazing stuff though when it’s on. I picked up a case of 09’s the other day. Pichon should be perfect right now.

I'm a Pennsylvania native and I know you're not getting these wines at the State Store

Certainly not lol! Although, fun fact about PA state stores. Because they buy as a collective, I believe PA is the largest wine buyer in the world and can theoretically get anything you want. You may need to know someone, though.

I have a few wine contacts specializing in getting various things. I'm going to open an 88 Haut Brion this weekend for my son's baptism. Should be fun.

Congratulations to your family. There is some history and a few scenes in my two Steelton Novels about the PA LCB. One of the prime characters is employed there (fiction). The original purpose of the PA LCB was to dissuade citizens from drinking. When my wife and I lived in Harrisburg in the 70s, the State Stores were closed on Sundays and closed at 5:00 pm (maybe 6 on Saturday?). It was CASH only. They did not have any liquor or wine out in the shops. You ordered from a clerk who went back and fetched your order. Wines were usually stored in 90 degree conditions standing upright. We always made road trips to NYC or D.C. for wine purchases. In the early 80s a British friend and I started buying BDX futures (thanks to Parker and the 82 vintage).

I’m traveling to Captiva from Ohio on Monday. Looking to take this bottle with me. Pretty sure it can only fly in checked bags. How do you fly with good bottles? I got rid of all of my shipping tubes recently.

Curtis. I have a two bottle carrier made by "BUILT" It's is well padded and I put it in checked bag firmly wedged between packing cubes and have never had an issue. That '05 should be ready to go. The 07s were also a great year with good life

    Opened for my son’s baptism.

09 was too tight. Needs 12 hours in decanter or 10 years.
88 was beautiful. Still fruit left. 94 pts for me but 100 bc it’s my birth year.
Dominus is always great. One of my favorite American cabs.
