People who can own Ferraris, outside of celebrities and athletes, generally can do so because they're good business people in one way or another. Good business people piss away as little money as possible on frivolous stuff.

I think resale is important to about everyone when it comes to Ferrari because outside of a very few who are going to buy the car and keep it forever, at some point you will want to trade for a different model, or just get out of the car. No one likes to sit on a car they are trying to sell or take a big hit on trade value. Even for people who can afford a Ferrari, I'm sure no one wants to take a 10-20k haircut when they go to trade of sell.

Enzo Ferrari himself, as reported by Fiamma Breschi, did not like red for Ferraris. His favorite color for his personnal Ferraris was always light blue, like Azzuro. But he drive mainly the big four seaters.

Enzo always said that a Ferrari must be red, or at the very least yellow.

Enzo also called the Jag XKE the most beautiful car in the world in 1961 Geneva auto show I saw on a documentary once... After which Ferrari begin planning the 250 GTO project. Red was assigned the color for Italian racing cars of the vintage, even for during epic races like targa florio and Mille miglia fans always cheered on the "red cars" so this stuck in the hearts and minds of Tifosi worldwide. Personally Rosso Corsa is bellisima but so are Nero Ds (non metallic) and Giallo/yellow, all 3 are traditional non metallic colors. Those 3 are the first original colors and in my estimate still remain pure and true to the brand.

All that said my current favorite paint color of any car anywhere is a Lamborghini color. Yup, Grigio Telesto!!! The amazing pastel almost light non metallic gray. The perfect color!!!!
