Or perhaps by teens on myspace.

I could see the movie being popular with that group.

I know very little about the movie business. If the movie "cost" $26mm, is that just production cost, or does it include advertising and other associated costs? Or are those costs borne by a distributor/publisher?

As I recall (could be wrong) the movie studios pay the studio (or distribution company) for the right to show the movie in their theatre, right? So what % of the ticket sales go back to the distribution company and/or studio and/or producer? I doubt that if the movie "does" $26mm, that he has broken even. I'd bet it would have to do some multiple of that (maybe 2x, maybe 10x) to break even, considering his cut.

How does that factor in with TV rights, home video/DVD rights, and international release rights?

It seems movies seriously trail off in terms of their revenues after the first weekend. So far this movie is rated at $4.0mm as of Monday at 12:01am. That being so, this guy is gonna lose his shirt on this deal, methinks.

Whats the guys deal? Where did the original $$ for the cars and to fund the movie come from?

11th place and $4mil for the weekend, sounds like Redline will be the Ishtar or Heavens Gate of the car world movies except the losses are taken by one individual Sadek.

So the guy spent all this money so his gf the leading actress could have a movie role, bad judgement to begin with

She is spectacular looking but there's a reason why she couldn't get arrested in Hollywood. Had he shot her in a porn movie for a 10th the budget he wouldn't be in this mess.

I won't go see this in the theater but I'll pick up the DVD when it comes out. It will take a few years but I bet he at least breaks even.

I really doubt that, the theaters will probably dump this movie next week and good luck on him collecting 50% of his $4 mil, video will probably flop as well and it surely wont have a whole section wall with 30 copies with his movie on display more like one copy hidden with the rest of the independents.

This movie might make some sort of new record on losses for a producer, should be compared to Gigli with J Lo for entertainment content as well

Did anyone notice the F-cars didn't have any badges affixed on them? Was that done for a particular reason? I know they refered to them as "Ferrari's" several times. Overall, that was aweful. Need for Speed with a bit of Bourne Identity thrown in.

Less than 1 week and my local Theatre has already pulled it. That's sad.. You almost have to feel bad for the poor guy, for trying to help his goddess get a leading role.

Nope, that feeling passed. I think it was last nights dinner visiting again..

Kept the girl....wrecked the Enzo...that's a double whammy, right there.

When you get older, you'll understand.....LOL!

Anyone have a real estimate on the car repairs?
No way was it "totalled'...that's more Hollywood talk........unless he uses a Hollywood Body Shop, maybe..;)

Yesterday it pulled in only $99 per theater. Time to release the DVD, since the movie will get pulled from most theaters.

Perhaps the producer could create some reality TV show in which a shop repairs the Enzo. Haha

The numbers so far are scary, I can't imagine taking a loss like this. Even if it goes worldwide he's taking a Hell of a hit. It's just a matter of time until the Enzo hts EBAY.

    MICHAEL BAY PLEASE NOTE

    PEARLE HARBOR
    REDLINE
    THE ISLAND

that is 3 strikes one hit (bad Boy's) and a walk (bad Boy's 2) A bunt (the Rock) and one error (armageddon)

Transformers better be a grand slam or you are being sent to the minor leagues to do music videos and budweiser ads again...

Really they were all made by the same guy???

    Pearl Harbor sucked....
I haven't seen Redline yet, but I haven't heard good things.
I actually really liked The Island
I liked the Rock, and the Bad Boys movies were ok, Armageddon was ok.

I don't see Transformers becoming any smash hit.... but I thought the Spiderman movies would bomb...

The Island was a great concept movie, and fairly well executed. Very underrated, IMHO.

Sooo much better than crap like the 6th day, based loosely on similar themes. I believe the 6th day got good reviews compared to the Island, a miscarriage of justice as far as I'm concerned.

    EDIT : maybe not. Rotten Tomatoes : The Island = 40%, 6th day = 39%.

I still stand by my comment. It doesn't make sense to me that Bladerunner would be rated so highly while The Island is always being slammed.

    Ya +1

I thought The Island was a great movie... I mean it's not the best movie of all time but for what it was I thought it was very enjoyable and well done... not to mention Scarlet Johansen is smokin' hot in it....

I don't understand how movies are rated at all these days..... it's very often I fall asleep to things that get good reviews and I enjoy things that people say are awful. I guess it depends what people expect to get out of a movie.
