Where are the dyno electronics hooked up at? You know you're a redneck when you call your mouse a 'critter'...
I am surprised they didn't rig it with few horses to measure the output and hence get away from using the electronics... The difference between a Cowboy and a Redneck... they both raise cattle but the Redneck gets emotionally involved! HeeeeHaaaaa! Edit: Great post by the way.
IT looks like they've got a strain gauge on the block the chains connect to. That gives them the force the car is pulling with. Then they use the brakes on the truck axle to apply the load. I guess what they do is manually record the rpm and the load that went with it, Measure the radius of the wheel, then torque= force X radius and hp= torque x rpm/5252, it should work. what concerns me the most is the very high probablility of the car taking a 10 foot drop because they didn't bother to build a platform of any kind, very stupid.
What's up with the source page? It has nothing to do witht eh pics at all. http://www.josephthompson.net
This is truly inspiring! I wonder if the guy is planning on building any other test equipment. I'm envisioning a wind tunnel. Art S.
He will get to the wind tunnel after meeting up with his computer date: Image Unavailable, Please Login
You make me laugh so hard! Do you really think someone who builds something like this can do even simple math? "Dude my 'maro has 540 horsepower according to my dyno and runs 9s in the quarter mile!" THIS GUY HAS TO HAVE A MULLET! ROFLMAO
Maranelloman, Where did you see this at? I posted the link on another forum I frequent, and someone there wants to know where it originally came from.
Thanks. By the way, I was looking for some more info and found this post. http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/showthread.php?s=&threadid=249330 It looks like it is by the guy who built it.
All laughing aside ... and that is hard to do, it has some sort of possibility of working, but from what I have read on the site link only a slim possibility What concerns me the most is I feel this guys application to join the Darwin Awards club is in the mail and being processed ... this is one bloody dangerous thing he is playing with. The idea of having somebody else at the back controlling the truck axle brakes is definitely bonus points for the Darwin Award ... take somebody out with you Fascinating ... I'll stick to my seat of the pants dyno Pete
