So I had the nice fuel smell when I parked my 360 after a hot day of driving. *Sniff* *sniff* on the drivers side had the smell of fuel. So I opened the engine panel.

I then tested the fuel pump (looked dry) and the float valves for leakage: put a cloth around the fitting and drove around the block. No leaks, no wet fuel.

So I consulted Rustybits and he mentioned that the floats can crack and release gas (thanks Eddie!). There are two float valves on each side.. which one is cracked? Main pump could be cracked as well but pressure would argue it leaks fuel if cracked.

So, to diagnose I took 2 part epoxy (the clear kind:clear yellow and clear) and cleaned the float valve near the fuel pump. I then mixed it and put paper around the valve to contain the epoxy. I then applied the epoxy over the one float valve with a brush. I let it dry and then drove around today. Voila! No gas smell. This is the float valve that is bad.

Rationale: if you seal off the bad float valve and the smell of gas goes away, you've got the right one. Plus, you get some time to order your float valve prior to replacement. The fix won't last forever.
