    Hi All,

I did a search here and found several good, but old, threads about the subject, however, the focus seemed to be on refinishing plastic parts. As we all know, there are numerous products and methods used to refinsih our crappy interiors that turn to goo at the first sight of sun. One of the options is to send them out, but not everybody has the patience for long turnaround timeframes (especially me), and especially for something that CAB be a DIY task. Also, we all know that various solvents work fine in removing the sticky coatings on plastic parts, which usually leaves an OEM-looking black base, BUT for the metal parts, not so much. It's easy to go too far with the cleaning, and the next thing you know, you've exposed bare metal. I for one, do not wish to pay out the wazoo, and one source has decided to pick and choose his customers and has a 3-motnh lead time. Sadly, he chose to decline me as a customer (personality issues and poor attitude probably might have something to do with why he's now banned?).

So, in one of the threads I found, this product came up as a relatively low-cost solution: ITEM # 15089Z BRAND: EASTWOOD. Here is the link:
    https://www.eastwood.com/ew-plastic-resurfacer-matte-black-aerosol.html
But the thread talks about plastic. I'd like to know if it works on the metal parts as well. I'd also like to know what other solutions for the black finish people have found. I'm skeptical about the off-the-shelf paints you can find in auto parts stores, or other common chain stores.

Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated.

I didn't use the Eastwood brand in your link but something similar ie a black plastic bumper paint to both the sticky plastic and metal parts. Painted them approx 10 years ago and they still look fine on the metal door pulls which I consider to be a high-usage area.

If you're unsure just do the door pulls and see what they are like after a bit of use. I think the key is to degrease them properly.

After talking to a rep at Eastwood, they recommended a different product for the metal parts, but it didn't have good reviews. So I went with this, based on another recommendation: https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/vht/vht-paint-epoxy/vht0/sp652/

The problem with it is that it takes too long to dry/harden. So long that stuff floating around in the air ended up stuck in it. It's even harder to remove than the factory finish! I'm back to square one. I wonder if there is anybody who refinishes parts besides StickyRX and StickNowMore.

I can't help you these parts but I did leave you a message on another topic.
