Hi - I just had the recall service preformed on my 05 612. The car has come back and is running better than ever. I'm noticing that the shifts are faster in both modes, and less jerky at lower speeds. The sport mode is truly fantastic. Does anyone know the true "details" of the replacement parts/modification to the transmission? Would it affect preformance or, am I just happy to have the car back after two weeks away ? Thanks, asg
I had mine done about a month ago and I agree it feels better but I suspect that's more to do with software than parts, my understanding is the only thing replaced is a sensor, the software update goes with it. My car always feels better when it's back in my hands
Hi Adam, I can't say that I noticed a substantial improvement from the recall alone -- would not have guessed that there was a software upgrade in there. It is a lot better than when the transmission was jamming in neutral, however! Hope you are doing well. Best, Gary
I wasnt aware of the software either. Who knows, might have an effect on shift timing etc. The car just runs great. Maybe having a new, fully juiced battery helps as well. Just as an aside....this past weekend was my oldest son's 3rd birthday. After the party, he wanted one of his friends to come home to play. The other boys mother said "You cant take the kids in THAT, where will they sit?" - So, when I proceeded to show her the two rear seats and the two boosters I have back there she said "Holy Cow, and its roomy too." I love when people see the practicality of the 612 and are shocked. Then they think I'm not such a jerk....just a jerk who loves spending time with his kids and their friends in his car . Its a great present hauler as well. The trunk is great. I love this car so much more than my Porsche Turbo is isnt even funny! Be well, asg
